Combo of the Year.

by Hungrymaster on 26 July 2014

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sorceries (4)

Instants (8)

Artifacts (4)

Land (24)

Sideboard (1345 cards)

Creatures (1345)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

I've been a big fan of Storm Crow since I started playing in 2009. In the recent years I've bought and traded every single Storm Crow I've seen for myself. And a year ago I got the idea for this deck. Today I decided to pursue my dreams and build it.

Edit: as many of you have reminded me. I have added the Storm Crow's best combo-pieces to the sideboard too. Although I don't own many of em'.

How to Play

Step 1.
Pili-Pala + Grand Architect for infinite mana
Step 2.
Cast Living Wish and copy it infite times through Djinn or Patron+Uyo
Step 3.
Get all my Storm Crows out for the winter unending.

Interesting T3 Win, if your lucky enough to draw the cards you need every time. Why storm crows though? Unless you vrs someone with counter spells or burn spells this would work out great. If someone was lucky to mana ramp to mizzium mortors and overload it to kill them all before they can attack

He put those there because he doesn't need a sideboard. The spell allows him to grab any card that he own's. He was just letting people know that's the card he would call in with the spell and use it over and over again.

So he is going to use Living Wish to call in any card he owns outside of the game. So it wouldn't even be in his sideboard. He is just letting people know what card he would call in over 1000 of them lol

On another note, i like that he is only concerned with the fact that there is more than 15 cards in a SB. The fact that there are 1333 more legal copies of a card in the SB is all good.

As cool as this deck is, and as much as i love Storm Crow, PhyrexianPossum is correct. Living Wish, or any Wish for that matter can't just grab any card you own. Doesn't work that way.

1

I honestly don't see the problem because its alot easier to beat 1337 storm crows than it is to beat:
1x iona shield of emeria
1x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
1x Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
1x Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
4x Craterhoof Behemoth
1x Urabrask the Hidden
1x Avacyn, Angel of Hope
1x Venser, Shaper Savant
4x Frost titan

which he could just as easily cast....

And thats just one of the 1million different combination of creatures this deck could grab.
I mean he has infinite mana, so really if he can copy this I would much rather face 1337 storm crows than what i posted above.

not to mention the fact that if you let a deck that needs 4 cards to combo out on you with 0protection and 0disruption combo out on you, you deserve to be destroyed by these crows of the storm.

People get heated with Magic. :)

Girls play Magic?! "Whhatttttt???"

Every time I have ever went/been in a Magic Shop/Comic Store...it is always a total sausage-fest. IF there does happen to be a female present...all the young 15 year old horny guys are swarming her telling her how awesome it is that she plays Magic...and asking her if they can hang out with her. The girl can even be playing a deck with 4 Storm Crows and 56 Islands...and the guys will tell her how it is the best deck they have ever seen.

I love humanity. :)

NorthernWarlord, I dislike fighting too but its the internet what were you expecting ;)

Also I'm not sure it's a fight but rather a heated discussion. PhyrexianPossum seems to favor tight adherence to rules and formats while the others seem to be more familiar with looser casual settings, and this is what it looks like when world collide. (Hope I didn't put words in anyone's mouths but that's how I see it anyway .)

1

To be fair I could care less if she is a girl, as my lady plays magic.
I was more so just confused as how I was expected to know that she was a female with the name "PhyrexianPossum"
Now people may go "woah woah woah, thats sexist to assume" in which i would say "its more offensive to just call people IT"
I feel it's safer to assume and say "he" as 95% of the magic community is still male, you don't have to get affended and make it seem like i should of known she was infact a female.

and Stylee19 I only play formats with rules, I follow rules to the dot, but casual isn't a format and it isn't under the normal guidelines and rules that restrict other formats. Back when i first started playing and only played casual I didn't know what a sideboard was.
Who cares if Timmys want to play magic with no sideboard rules, its one of those cases where it really doesn't effect you so why should people care, its not like you are going to lose a PTQ facing 1337 storm crows.

Oh boy what an off-topic discussion on my deck =D. I know the rules on using wishes, I play legacy tournaments after all. So it is true that this deck isn't really legal in other places.

Its because its the joke card of the magic community, if you go on spoiler forums or this and that they will joke about storm crow being the best card ever etc.
Everyone has a favorite card ever printed, some people hoard that card. In this case this person loves storm crow.

Mine is Waste not, though i won't consider hoarding it until its a bulk rare.

Yep...there are several decks like this, on Magic Vault and other Mtg sites...where people run over a dozen copies of Storm Crow in their deck. There are decks where there is nothing but 4 Storm Crows and 56 Islands. It is a gag.

Not sure when it started as a gag...but it has been in Magic for a long time!
All bow down to the power of Storm Crow!!!

it started way back when Force ofvWill was just printed. a pro player said "force of will makes any blue card the best card in the game." it just so happens storm crow was printed in the same set, and so people said "ZOMFG STORM CROW IS THE BEST" and the rest is history.

Ugh, there doesn't need to be any more of these decks. INFINITE COMBOS AREN'T FUN TO PLAY WITH OR AGAINST. I know, I made a deck with this exact combo once. It's fun the first few times you play with it, then it's just dull. It takes all the satisfaction out of winning and the people you play against will either complain about it or just give up. Infinite combo decks just have such a high chance of winning if made well that it's just a waste of time to play with them. If you look at this deck and any other infinite combo deck, whether it be mill or infinite creatures, they're all the same. No variation. Nothing interesting, the game doesn't even get to go on for that long, most decks like this will have a 3rd turn win easily. I'm not saying that the decks are inherently wrong, or that you're just a terrible person for enjoying playing with them, but just take a look at any other deck that focuses on an infinite combo and see what might be interesting about those decks and this one. There's no difference. If you're praising this one so much, why not every other one as well?

0
Posted 07 August 2014 at 22:42

I know what you mean. I have a couple decks that I never use anymore because they are too powerful. They're not that fun to play, and none of my friends want me to play them. Yet therein lies my issue with the game. I have to make decks that pull their punches, so to speak. It's like speed walking as an Olympic event "Let's see who is the fastest at medium speed." What's the point?

0
Posted 08 August 2014 at 01:07

I dunno, I honestly don't have a problem with extremely overpowered decks in general, it's just that, generally, infinite combo decks essentially win in the same way. Like, cards like Master Transmute and Unwinding clock are kind of _really really powerful_ and if you run a deck that's centered around them, it's very easy to pull off a win with them, but then again, they're a lot more interesting and there's more that you can do with them than an infinite combo deck (assuming any means of winning with infinite mana is classified as the same).

0
Posted 08 August 2014 at 06:56

Yeah I prefer card synergy in decks as opposed to specific combos. But I have some decks designed to get specific combos and win within three turns. I saw some of the epic combo decks on here and thought they would be really fun to play. And for the the first run they were but after that... its predictable like you said. Anyway that's just my thoughts.

To clarify my goal here, I will explain it a bit more.

I know the rules on using wishes, I play legacy tournaments after all. But with my friends we have a house rule that wishes can be used on any card you own, as it is a good laugh playing EDH, etc. and grab your card folder and start looking at options. So it is true that this deck isn't really legal in other places.

As I hoard Storm Crows I only wanted a deck where I can really use them, as it isn't quite ordinary to see a deck that has dozens of cards with the same name on the battlefield (As long as we don't count Clones.). And as this is an infinite combo that isn't really meant to win games, I'm not considering to play it often. It's just a joke that I can show players new to the game or my card group.

Okay. This is going to START A LOT OF FIGHTS.

But...here goes. I nominate another creature as the BEST CREATURE in Magic. It isn't Storm Crow.
Hear me out, hear me out!!! Don't burn me at the stake! I know how amazing Storm Crow is!!!

However, I want to officially state that I believe, THE BEST CREATURE in Magic is SCORNFUL EGOTIST.
Yep, there, I said it!!!! Let the fights begin!!

Sure, 2 mana for a 1/2 flyer is BRUTAL!!! AMAZING!!! FABULOUS!!!

But Scornful Egotist is a, for THE SMALL, VERY SMALL, SUPER SMALL AMOUNT OF 8 MANA, is a 1/1 creature!!!
You heard me, slap yourself, shake your head out of the stupor you are in. Yes, Egotist is THAT AMAZING!!!

Storm Crow, your days are numbered, my friend!!!

Let the "scorn" begin!!!

0

Scornful Egotist actually has some uses (mana cost matters stuff). A two mana 1/2 Flyer isn't even a Forest Bear, which has the Vanilla factor. They don't even compare.

I am seeing Accelerated Mutation being one card that works with Egotist.
Aether mutation is another.
Ancient Ooze.

Definitely would work with a wizard deck splashed with green.

0
Posted 12 August 2014 at 01:55

Maybe in a pod deck? (Splash blue of course) Being that you can essentially, cast it for 3 (It just takes 2 turns). Yeah you could do the do with the pod and a card with converted mana cost 9 5th turn. (There are better ways of doing it but hey it'd work) pretty simply too.

1-Island
2-island/forest/whatever land
3-land, morph Egotist
4-pay 1 life+3 mana for Pod+Flip Egotist
5-Sac egotist, search for a creature with converted mana cost 9, put it on the field

Then maybe next turn sac for Jin Gitaxias or something or other, big things are big.

1

That sounds like my old standard deck. Hand of Emrakul podded into jin gitaxias. Wurmcoils into elesh norn. Think i had nest invaders and some other spawn makers... But maybe those were two different decks.

0

Very interesting take on Egotist, americanErrorist.

The "Pod" he speaks of, is Birthing Pod.

And you are using green and blue for your example. Considering it has mana ramp...you could get the above example off on Turn 3 or 4.

I can't understand the use of Uyo! You need many lands to work on it! Perhaps can be funny if you have 1 djinn in your SD so you can replicate Living Wish one time and as a response you take first the djinn who will replicate the copy of Living Wish, just in case. The combo can be faster.

I thing with a little changes you can have a modern deck that would be more competitive than a deck for Vintage.

Just wondering why you don't follow the restricted banned list for vintage? Some say cause it's for casual but I believe it creates a better play experience even if just for casual. Who really wants to walk over their friends cause they have a play set of restricted cards in the deck. In this case having 2 play sets. Gifts and Mystical.

As well if I can offer anything to the deck I would suggest Lightning Greaves to protect your Mana combo pieces. It's been very helpful in my combo deck. (Which I will add doesn't get played much do to the fact it seems like stealing the win so to speak.)
