This is a primarily black, life gain loss death. Every time you gain life, your opponent is going to be losing life. There is really two ways to play this deck, offensive and defensive. If you go offense, you can use lifelink and sanguine bond to assure combat damage and boost your own health at the same time. Then you can pull out 3 serra ascendant's for only 3 plains and instantly have 3 6/6 flyers. If you go defensive theres souls of the faultless to absorb the damage and throw it back at your opponent and deathbringer liege to reduce your opponents attackers and pump your defenders. Hissing Miasma will also keep your opponents from attacking you and is the perfect defense against a token swarm deck Rather than having a sideboard, I really have a list of cards I would like to have in the deck but cant cause it would be over 60 cards. I usually throw everything I want in the deck and waste too much time trying to decide what to throw out. What you see here is what I finally decided on and is open to suggestions. I would love some help deciding what combos are better to keep and what are better to get rid of.
After playing this multiple time, the why I end up playing it is based off my opening hand. I usually end up with a mourning thrull or souls of the faultless to begin with so I put up a quick defense and start gaining life as quick as possible. This deck is all about cheap shots. I'll get out exquisite blood to double life gain and when my opponent starts building up a defense I'll beef up mourning thrull with an edge of the divinity. Whenever I get an edge of the divinity it goes on a mourning thrull or deathbringer leige. Divinity of the pride usually gets played once I already have 25 or more life. When I have 5 free mana its usually spent on a deathbringer liege or and enchantment. I use Divinity of the pride as more of a defensive card to keep my lead or a last ditch effort to pull out a win. Lilianna rarely makes it on the field and I usually use her when I need to get out a debtor's knell and bring some creatures back. Serra ascendant is another that doesn't get used much. If I open with it, I'll play it quick but it never does me too much good. Keeping all 3 is great when playing two-headed giant and starting with 30 life. Wins usually come with this deck using the insta-kill combo and a suture priest. Hissing miasma is usually a part of it, but not the winning combo. I have gotten many compliments on this deck and it has won me a lot of games.
