Force opponent to discard, watch them take direct damage for it. Suggestions strongly encouraged, I'm not familiar with a vast number of cards so if I'm missing/overlooking something then let me know!

I would sideboard anything that targets a creature that is on the battle field. I would try to raise Nezumi Shortfang to 4, you can put more then 1 of the small card out, just dont let your opponent discard or drop his entire hand and you wont have any worries about loosing a legendary creature. With a deck at about 60 cards, if I dont have atleast 20 mana in it, I usually cant get enough spells casted. I would also try to bring in more Bloodchief Ascension and Painful Quandary. Oh and if you decide to drop the tutors, you can get a couple viscera seer and reassembling skeletons -Viscera Seer {B} Sacrafice a creature, Scry 1 -Reassembling Skeleton {1}{B} {1}{B} Return Reassembling Skeleton to the battle field tapped That combo should help get the card you need, when you need it. I would recommend using it at the end of your opponent's turn so that you dont waste mana Also even though it is limiting, I would try to ensure I have 4 of each card in my deck, it increases the chance that I'll draw one, decreases the chance that all of them will be forced to be discarded, countered, or milled. plus most cards' abilities stack when you have multiple on the field. (like if you have 4 liliana's caress and 4 megrim on the field that is 16 damage per dropped card coupled with 4 Painful Quandary, the only decks that could survive that is a platnium angel, fast gain life, Cho-Manno / Pariah [all damage goes to enchanted creature - place it on a Cho-Manno, Revolutionary that prevents all damage to himself] Hope that helps
I agree with pretty much everything that's been said so far. Increase your land count to 20. Drop Dark Ritual as you only have 8 spells that really need it. For a discard deck, you're missing one of the best discard cards ever printed, Hymn of Tourach. I personally don't have a problem with the Demonic Tutor, but you should really only be playing 1 (since they are restricted), adding Liliana Vess in place of the two freed slots would be a strong play (but that might also warrant keeping the Dark RItuals (or even adding 2 to make a set of 4)). Bottom line, you are kind of trying to combine two ideas into one deck. I would really focus on the discard theme and try to exploit it to the next level. I welcome any comments or criticism that you can offer with any of the decks I have posted on the site (just click my name to see my decks). Thanks in advance.
I probably should have specified my intentions in the description, I play casual only and most often in multiplayer games with friends. Which is the main reason I chose specter. I played my budget version of this deck last night and with 1 megrim I almost dropped 3 people before they finally got rid of it but I still pulled out a win. Additionally in our games we ban planeswalkers, or throwing Liliana in would be an obvious choice. The sluice thing is sadly me being a tard, I misread the card and thought it was a black capable index ripoff. Now my questions, why do people put so much stock in Hymn? I'm not fond of the 'random' discards, I like being in control of their hand so that I can target the cards that will hurt their combo the most. also, with the shortfang If i have 1 out in play and i want to play another, can I choose to not flip one or is that just an automatic thing that would then burn them both? Thanks for the suggestions guys, really appreciate the input.
Hymn is a good card because it can remove anything in their hand, it's not biased. Being able to choose a card is great, but guaranteeing that you're getting two cards for two mana is great. Distress only gets you one card (though chosen) for the same cost as Hymn. If you run Hymn after a Duress, then you are 'kind of' choosing what the Hymn can get. After reading the Shortfang, the flip is part of the tap mechanic. So it will always come into play unflipped and will only flip when you activate it. I appreciate any comments or criticism you can offer on any of the decks I have posted here (just click on my name to see my deck list). Thanks in advance!
I think they only thing I would question now is the effectiveness of the Painful Quandry. It's the only card that doesn't cost 3 or less, and with no acceleration, it's not coming out any sooner than turn 5. With that said, is a third copy of Megrim worth playing over this quandry? Or perhaps another Rack? Keeping everything 3 CC or less pretty much ensures you're always online and ready to go. The Quandry would be a dead card in an opening hand.
Seeing your deck and comments helped me tweak mine... Any thoughts would be sweet on my deck! Thanks.
