Deck Description

I wanted to make a very strong tribal Merfolk deck. I modeled the deck off the legacy tournament winning decks with a few different fishies thrown in for variety and fun. It is budget because it doesn't have x4 Force of will, x4 Daze, x4 Aether Vial or x4 Mutavault. Seeing as It won't be playing against $500+ legacy decks, it should hold its own fine against other semi-broken/casual decks. The Wasteland and Jitte + Shoal were thrown in because I had them otherwise they would not be there because just the wasteland + Jitte = ~$80

How to Play

Step 1 - Play lands
Step 2 - Play Fishies
Step 3 - Play more Fishies
Step 4 - Win game

Deck discussion for Tribal Casual Merfolk (Fish)

Please let me know what you think! Any critique of card ratios and how to improve it without buying cards that each cost $20+ would be great!

I agree the curve is off - What would you recommend for 1 cost? Normally x4 Aether vial would be there etc.

For the one cost problem, take out Spreading Seas and put in the same number of Acquitect's Will.
Is a merfolk tribal card so triggers the reejery and can help with adepts ability.
I would put in some more wake thrashers and master of the pearl trident.
I recommend cold-eyed selkie for great card-draw, all replacing the marrow sovereigns and saprazzan heir, which also helps in sorting out your mana curve as well!

Please take a look a my standard-in-block/modern menfolk deck, won a few FNMs over the years :) and my other decks too

Oh, awesome, My very first tribal deck was merfolk and I've always had a soft spot for them.

Why not Merrow Commerce? It's just about the best tribal enchantment out there. Lullsage Mentor is another cool idea, if you decide to throw yourself behind the counter thing a bit more.

Merfolk Looter is an ungodly level of useful for its small price.

Finally, the Merfolk Thaumaturgist + Silvergill Douser is a really neat removal trick that only merfolk can pull off.
