Before my friends and I started playing EDH, I had a deck I really liked that didn't generate or use any colored mana at all. It was nothing but artifacts, artifact creatures, and non basic lands. When it was time to turn it into EDH, there were unfortunately not enough non basic lands to just produce colorless mana, so I had to change the direction a little bit. However, Memnarch is the king of artifacts, so I thought having him in charge would make enough sense, and it still only has artifact spells, so the spirit of the deck is still intact.

Yeah, the guys I play with don't really worry about that. Hell, one of my friends has about 8 or 9 of the banned cards in his EDH decks. We just like to have fun.
