Thanks, once archangel was spoiled i wanted to do an extort deck with her. Each time you extort equals a +1/+1 cause each one triggers seperately

May I suggest some draw?

Decks based around five drops to combo off need ways to dig through mana to get cards, and you'll need some spells to extort once she is on the field. I'd say fare well to blind obedience in favor of sign in blood, you'll have the life for it, and I'd also drop Syndicate of tithes for tithe drinker, seeing as a bear with lifelink and extort is better then a bear with just extort. The lifelink will help the deck as a whole and tithe drinker is a very solid card. Elixir is a great mill defense, but I don't see it coming in handy too much. It's just more life gain on an already stable life gain build. Essentially it's a pay three and put counters on everything, the whole grave shuffle would be like flavor text.

IF you ran more spells that drew cards or possibly even spotted some removal, Elixir would be fine. Yet it still screams sideboard to me...

Alive and well is nice but a four of? Sure it's a one drop, but also not really worth playing until late game, seeing as you wont have TOO many creatures on the field. If you drop down on it, you wont have one sitting in your hand. I do like the idea of extorting it, but why not extort something that will give you field advantage or card advantage?

Four crypt ghast = lots and lots and lots and lots... you get the idea. So you can afford a higher mana curve. Introduce some field support, and cards that will make your opponent sweat. Blood Barron of Vitzkopa? Maybe.

Four crypt incursions is just a little too over the top... especially without any sort of mill, removal, or otherwise. I'd lose it almost all together, or bench that card to the sideboard if you are really worried about re animator. For three you can introduce a number of nice cards that'll help you out. Remember, gaining life isn't your win condition, Archangel of thune is. You need cards that not only work with her, but stuff to get her out. Vitzkopa guildmage is an alternate win considering his abilities. You'll find yourself wining with him almost as much as you win with archangel. Extort will help you get to the win, but it wont usually be the reason why.

I like debt to the deathless for big costs, and it is awesome when your opponent is all tapped out.

I'd also find a few more lands. Your mana curve would appreciate it.

i disagree with you on alive, it is a one drop which i can extort a silly amount of times (and have done so) and it makes people want to give up when you gain 30 life from one spell (more in group games).

I switched crypt incursion for sign in blood.

Blind obedience is good control to allow me to get archangel out with less pressure.

I try to avoid low cost multicolored cause i find i never get the color i need til 2 or 3 turns later when i couldve dropped a 1colorless one colored much sooner.

Also as a general rule i play in multiplayer games, so extort is amplified much more, thats another factor to consider. As for a one on one deck i still think it's viable in its now form.

And yes, every deck can use at least 2 elixir, it's either anti-mill, life gain, or a great shuffler if you're hitting a pocket of something you don;t want, be it spells or mana

Are you aware of the concept of "thinning your deck"?
This is why fetchlands of Zendikar were so powerful and so expensive

When you play elixir you get your deck back closer to 60 cards again making it mathematically harder to get the cards that you want.

Also nobody plays mill in the competitive scene.
As well as that how do you know that when you shuffle your deck again that you won't hit a pocket of something you don't want again? Shuffling is a random process

Elixir is a good card yes but not mainboard worthy
Put it in the sideboard

You never see elixir in the mainboard of tournament decks (and not in the sideboard either)

Each extort gives 1 +1/+1? And what about a control card like celestial flare

0
Posted 16 July 2013 at 21:53

Yup because each instance of extort is triggered separately, they just resolve simultaneously. And if my creature buff works out, i shouldn't need a card like that

Very good. I really like the deck since i like orzhov and black-white combination and lifelink this deck is a perfect choice to play. I copied it to myself with a few changes in order not to forget it, but dont worry didnt published it, its still yours :D Im going to proxy this soon. Good job.

Archangel of Thune and Extort. That is some beautiful synergy right there. Can't really see any reason to suggest anything right now. I'd even keep Lilliana more for her mana ramp than her emblem as I can't imagine any half-clued in player letting you get that off, and Crypt Ghast does that job very nicely anyway.

And Debt to the Deathless in multiplayer will see your friends behead you and hang your head as a trophy above the fireplace because it's just so strong in mana rampy decks, but it's so good for letting you cackle maniacally as you sweep overwhelming victory in a single turn.

I can do what debt to the deathless does just from extorting sometimes

Cloudshift? Cheap white spell that gives your angels some protection. Imagine, if you will, somebody firing a killspell at her only to have it flub completely, then ALL THE LIFEGAIN happens.
