memory lapse with isochron scepter can pretty much stop a player from taking a turn. thats what i do with my control deck
I like it but I cannot imagine that it is a fast play. Looks like the dynamic is good and synergy is great, vigor definitely is pretty devastating, but how fast does it play? is mana a concern?
Ive played togs in the past but i love the way they allow you to build up such big creatures in this deck. its so nice and simple. also triskelion is a new addition and crazy fun. forge armor on crusher, give its counters to trisk so 8 counters on triskelion, plus the three it comes into play with. Crazy fun. a move like that takes some mana but thanks to urzas lands i get to do stuff like that fairly consistently. love it. still its better in multiplayer games. it plays pretty well single player but a longer game means more creatures and land, the bigger the buildup the better.
yeah not being able to archive trap yourself is kinda a problem here.
swap the smothers for feast of bloods and think about losing mind sludge for more vamps
thanks for the tips guys. of all my creatures i have considered vampire aristocrat to be the least valuable actually and was wondering if he should be replaced. I can see the appeal of fetch lands, I only have the one landfall card but they would help with shuffling my deck if i have a land on top. they are a little out of my budget right now but thanks for the advice! I actually have 4 bloodwitches but left them out on account of their mana cost. might be good to throw back in to help clinch a game thats dragging on a little too long though so i can see the appeal there. I will consider it. Thanks for the advice guys! keep it coming everyone :)
OK my advice looks kind of dumb because you have hellfire mongrel and guul draz specter. Sorry I have been looking through a lot of B/R discard looking for ideas. If I was you I would still consider swapping duress for hymn but thats more of a casual play only decision. Baasically you can ignore everything I said except for the part about checking out my deck, maybe that could still hewlp you, I know it would help me :).
I like this deck a lot. I have one that plays the exact opposite, it tries to get a person down to no hand and punish them for it. I really like this variation though, it is a little more outside the box than mine and I am sure it plays an interesting game :).
Looking good. I have a very similar deck and would recommend removing some of the attack/discard creatures for creatures that are going to make your opponent suffer for their lack of hand (hellfire mongrel) as well as straight up discard spells (hymn to tourach). I am not sure if you are trying to keep this legal for certain style gameplay so I do not want to go crazy suggesting cards you could only use in casual play anyway but I personally found in my deck that creatures that cause your opponent to discard are nice but do not always get through and that can really slow down your deck actually working. You seem to have a lot more than I ever did though so who knows, this might work out quite nice for you. You are welcome to have a look at my deck and see if it gives you any ideas, just click my name. All in all though I would say you have a solid deck here, not beyond tinkering (they never are), but definitely a sound foundation.
i agree dsgrave, wirewood pride is much better for this deck then tribal unity anyway. as soon as i some more alpha statuses those are going in and the unities are coming out
k it looks good. this is the real Black deck as it stands now though it is subject to change.
there seems to be a glitch. this deck actually has 4 dark rituals in it but they arent showing up even though they are still being counted. im gonna try and fix that now plus i changed the deck a little bit.
Thanks again for the comment youngdrew. And thanks for the tip about dauthi trapper, I'll start looking for that card and try to figure out a way to use it in my deck.
I'm gonna have to put together a proxy of this deck because I don't have some of those cards but it looks wicked fun to play!
Thanks youngdrew, I like it too. It's not too hard to make and tons of fun to play with. Nothing beats charging with a few zombies then playing strength of night and ripping through your opponents defenses! I suggest you tru it out sometime :).
