Deck Description

A more wallet friendly, but still playable version of the Abzan Company deck coming in at just under $150. The base deck is very similar, and can be upgraded into the real thing with minimal effort.

How to Play

This deck runs on the same formula as all decks of this archetype.

Kitchen Finks/Murderous Redcap + Melira/Anafenza + Viscera Seer/Cartel Aristocrat = Infinite Life/Infinite Damage.

The trick is, how can we do this on a budget? The tiered version of this deck can run you $700-1000 depending on the pieces you choose to put in each slot. Whereas I'd expect a budget deck to come in at $150 or less.

There are some pieces we simply can't reduce the cost of no matter what. Namely, Kitchen Finks, Collected Company, and Melira, Sylvok Outcast; since each are integral to our combo.

However, there are some slots that are a little more flexible and allow us to dramatically drop the cost of the deck, while still giving us solid upgrade paths and keeping this deck as consistent as we can.

Manabase:

This is the first, and most difficult place to change to try and save some cash. First, we have to cut the fetch lands and the shock lands. They add nearly $220 to the overall cost of the deck.

My favorite replacement for Shock Lands, are "Check Lands" (Sunpetal Grove, Woodland Cemetery, Isolated Chapel). These dual-colored lands may not *always* have the option of coming in untapped, but they often will and are a pain-free way of tapping for which ever color you need.

The best option for replacing Fetch Lands, in my opinion are Pain Lands (Caves of Koilos, Llanowar Wastes, Brushland). They work on a very similar principal. Pay 1 life, to immediately gain access to the color mana you need.

From there, we are left with Gavony Township which remains in our deck to it's comparatively low cost, basic lands and my choice for a 3-color land -- Murmuring Bosk. Now, I considered running "Sandsteppe Cidatel" for a pain-free land that can tap for 3 colors. Since we aren't running Treefolk in our deck, both are coming in tapped anyway -- so why not use the land that doesn't require you to pay life? I decided having the "Forest" land type, was more useful since it is that much more probable that we can bring one of our Check Lands in, untapped.

From there, it comes down to budget alternatives for creatures and spells.

Voice of Resurgence, a powerhouse in most every deck it is in -- comes in at a painful $20. Grand Abolisher will perform it's slowing effect admirably, at a fraction of the cost. If your meta is more control-heavy or simply runs a lot of blue -- Eyes of the Wisent is a great second choice!

Noble Hierarch is another card that comes in at a hefty cost, and can be traded out on a budget. Optimally, I'd like to run a playset of Birds of Paradise, there isn't room in our budget -- so we will run 2 + Honored Hierarch to hopefully get everything we can out of our mana-dorks.

Chord of Calling, this is what became the creature-fetching utility of choice after the banning of Birthing Pod. For a playset however, it is an extra $30 we'd have to make room for. Instead, I have selected Yisan, the Wanderer Bard. While a slower option, he still will allow you to go fetch combo pieces -- hopefully in time to outpace your opponent. Descendants' Path will complement this nicely with such a heavy population of Humans in the deck, allowing you to put out several utilities and combo pieces without worrying about their cost.

Abrupt Decay is a fantastic card, but unfortunately at $10 there just isn't room in our budget. Putrefy is a workable substitute, allowing us to remove large threats at instant speed.

SIDEBOARD:

For the sideboard, this is just a collection of general "hate" cards for various deck types -- and should be tweaked to fit your current meta.
