Deck Description

All comments and likes/critiques are very appreciated! ^-^

**Flavor text**
Journal entry 76; We've been fighting them for days. Wave after wave of fire bashing against our shields, and no matter what we do to cut it down, break it or force it to retreat, it always comes back stronger than before. I'm beginning to ask myself if this whole war is nothing but a joke to the monsters...

How to Play

The deck thrives off of aggression. Play your elemental's, hit em hard and fast, then their tools for whatever you want: Fling them for more damage, Infernal plunge for mana, or reanimate/unearth them for the exact same effects to be reused only even cheaper :D

Certain cards are there to max damage output, like assault strobe. Breaking point/Pyroclasm help keep other creatures off the field, and you have nothing to worry about because you only have creatures on the field when you want them ^_^

Example game:
Turn one: Mountain, spark elemental
Turn two: Swamp, desperate ritual, ball lightning
Turn three: Swamp, unearth ball lightning, then fling/rite of consumption him.

21 damage turn three, no spells. Your opponent was just burned. Purely. :D

**SIDEBOARD**
For multiplayer games you could also play over sold cemetary :D
Skull crack against life gain
Smash to smithereens against artifact
Quest for zendikar you use during multi-player to keep a more solid elemental output (:

I think that the Whip of Erebos would be pretty good if you're gonna have creatures that are only out for a little bit. Pay four and you get them back for a while, them hit hard and throw 'em away. You're in the same place as before, but you did more damage. Also, are token decks a problem for you?

Btw, not sure how I feel on nova chaser, so any replacement ideas are much appreciated (:

0

Nova Chaser is tricky because since your creatures get sacced at the end of turn and nova chaser required you to put aside an elemental, it means you need 5 mana to cast nova chaser which may take a while. However, because of its 10 power with trample, its amazing. My deck runs burn cards and elementals if you'd like to check it out.

Sure! Its unloved :( http://www.mtgvault.com/mclarenf1boi/decks/elemental-burn-combo/

The focus of this deck was being able to get the elemental ramp going and then protect them all with Vigor, my 2nd favorite elemental incarnation after hostility.

Green, if you put a flamekin harbinger in the deck and got it out, you could have more creatures swinging fast and hard. The big plus for this is getting cheap cards out very fast, and it works well early on for control.

I like nova chaser because on fourth turn i can attack with him, then maybe add a double strike or fling him. :D Maybe past in flames+burning veangeance should go all together :o

0

Nova chaser is a dead draw until T4, in an aggro deck like burn you want to be able to always be casting whatever you draw.

Exactly, this is no burn. Closer to elemental tribal.
Still not too bad, try Brute Force for damage and protection against Bolts. Also forget about Infernal Plunge.

0

infernal plunge is nice for burn spells and maybe a nova chaser if i have two elementals on the field. I want this deck to be fast, and ive always thought that these cards were faster than any burn spell besides turn one kills like shoals (:

0
Posted 23 October 2013 at 22:30

and dont imagine this deck as a rush deck:
Imagine your creatures are simply manifestations of burn.. Burning isnt just instants, it's quick, direct damage, which this deck offers nothing BUT that, just simply not through spamming instants and sorceries with a kiln fiend XD
Its easily one of my favorite decks, simply because the idea is the deck all together is no defense, just straight out fire to your opponenet untill he crumbles (:

0
Posted 23 October 2013 at 22:36

Agreed. The guy who said that doesn't understand the burn concept I guess.

0
Posted 25 October 2013 at 05:58

Yes but this deck is called "Definition of pure burn" ... and Ball Lightnings and stuff certainly is no burn. Breaking Point isn't "pure" burn either and Assault Probe and Unearth are certainly no burn whatsoever, by any definition (same is true for Desperate Ritual but I'll let that slip). In fact, this deck doesn't have a single pure burn spell that burns without questions, all burn spells that are there need something to sacrifice and/or special conditions to be met.
I understand your stance on Ball Lightings all too well, but the title of the deck is just misleading.

0

Nova chaser seems bad considering most of your elemental's sac at end of turn. Even ball lightning isn't exactly likely to live a full turn. He just seems inconsistent.
Magma jet seems better, it makes sure you get to keep finding gas and that every draw is live while still dealing damage.
What is infernal plunge in here for? I don't get that inclusion at all

0
Posted 23 October 2013 at 16:57

infernal plunge is used so that i can hit with an elemental, sac him, and burn him with the mana by using spells in my hand.. Or, if i have two on the field, i can sac one of em and get nova chaser out a little faster or i can attack with two, sac one for infernal plunge, then sac the other with a fling card for double damage. So many possibilities with that damn card its ridiculous :D

originally this deck was mono red and used that spell instead of the reanimate and unearth, but its not worth it for

Looks like a really fun deck to play. I have built decks similar in the past. However this is not a legacy tournament deck without some dramatic changes. I have no intentions of dissing this deck but going for a Elemental Tribal burn just isn't going to be good enough in most legacy settings. You have basically made a slow RDW deck that dies to graveyard hate which is rampant in legacy. Your deck depends on you playing cards in a certain order to be effective, you will have lot of bad top decking. You have 20 cards that depend on targeting a creature on the battlefield or in a graveyard but you only have 14 creatures and most don't stay on the board. If you encounter any form of disruption your will have a hard time recovering.

If you are playing in a more casual setting I'm sure it will catch a lot of players by surprise or players that are running slower decks will get ran over. If you are looking for legacy burn you need to be playing stuff like:
Price of Progress, Chain Lightning, Goblin Guide, Fireblast, Lava Spike, Rift Bolt or run a damage recursion engine like Grim Lavamancer and tons of fetchlands. If you want to keep it with the Elemental tribal I would add Blistering Firecat and take out Rite of Consumption. Sacrificing at sorcery speed just seems bad. I also really like Hell's Thunder as a flyer with unearth that doesn't die to lightning bolt.

I put together a really fun elemental stompy deck that plays the classic trinisphere, blood moon chalice of the Void package but I also ran the 3+ costed Elementals. I even use 2 mimic vats because I can get them out fast and because the deck slows the game down to a speed that makes it a viable card. It can get nasty with a Trinisphere in play then you get a Mimic Vat and Fulminator mage lock going.
If you are interested.

Good luck with your deck!

My advice is get rid of the swamps and put in Blood Crypts instead. You don't ever want a plain swamp in your hand if your planning on pulling a Ball Lightning on turn 3.

0

but they so expensive D:
and i added desperate ritual which is perfect for this deck (:

0
Posted 25 October 2013 at 06:01

Rakdos Guildgate would still be better than a Swamp in hand and could still guarantee Turn 3 Ball Lightning. ;)

0
Posted 25 October 2013 at 06:28

Also consider with the desperate ritual, although it does combo nicely with the other spells, it's a card in hand and doesn't provide any damage, and burn always could use draw card function so wasting a card in hand isn't ever a good idea.

Alright this deck is really creaking awesome as I condidered it. Although I would have to agree its not tournament worthy it will definitely catch attention. For 50$ this deck has some serious kick to it. I love the concept and how well put it is, I think the only drawback would be not much draw here so if it did last past turn 5 you'd be kinda stuck. But well done my friend!!! I really enjoyed this take on a burn deck. I wish more people would post stuff like this, with just pure definition;D

what are your thoughts on vexing devil over spark elemental?

0
Posted 28 October 2013 at 01:48

spark elemental is much more key to the deck because of his haste and instant graveyard presence to be resummoned and flinged later. (:
Although yes, you could make a case for vexing, i hate vexing devil and am pissed that they made that card -_-
so, this deck plays spark elemental, which fills the place better in honour and efiiciency :D

0
Posted 28 October 2013 at 02:03

Vexing Devil is just plain awesome though. Not for this one but definitely for other burn decks. He has his ups and downs like any other spell. If you are thinkin that he's too OP, well it's also true that he gives the opponent the option, which is almost never good.

0
Posted 28 October 2013 at 09:14

I would like to see how the deck works with two Vexing Devils instead of two Blistering Firecats. The Devils got a good synergy with Unearth being able to deal four damage more times. The Firecasts are a 4 mana creature a little bit slow compared to Vexing Devil.
Another card to take a look is Browbeat, it gave you more draw power for three mana or five damage, think it's good against not heavy creature decks, moving Breaking Point to the side board. But if you gonna face a horde Breaking Point is the best.

0

It won't last until your next turn, though. You have to sac it at the end of turn, or the beginning of the next end step. Your creature dies. It would be good if you had a second attack phase. None of the other cards in this deck will allow that to happen.

0

place undying evil on creature meaning next time it dies, it comes back.. It dies at end phase, then stays on the field having "un-dyed" right? Is my science wrong XD

Hunted Horror is a good card for finishing. So in this deck I think its gonna work for a few turns, because your opponent can block the Elementals with the tokens and that is not good. What do you think about Awaken the Ancient instead the Firecats? 7/7 with haste also can help to block...
