Deck discussion for Good luck.

May I suggest breaking point? With all the control here I think some sweepers would be excellent, plus it fits your theme rather well.

I don't why I've never seen dash hopes before.... im drooling lol

I LOVE breaking point haha nobody ever lets you wipe the field if they can stop it. Definitely goes in the SB alongside mizzium mortars for those decks that pump out the tokens. Nice suggestion!

Dash hopes is one of my all time favorite black spells, along with duress, blightning, and molten influence there's really not much that can be done.

And everyone thinks blue is control...buahaha!

Decks like these make me wish I were better at Aggro decks.
Nicely done!

Thanks! I've been trying my hand at them for quite some time to try to get better, I think I'm actually going to make this one.
Any suggestions?

It's awesome, because I was just brainstorming with my old roommate about doing one of these. It'd be like one of those old "choose your adventure" books that were popular when I was a kid.
Would you like to..
A- Go through the door - turn to page 57 - die a horrible painful death
B- leave it and continue down the hallway - turn to page 154 - die an excruciatingly painful death

Talked about naming it Choose Your Destiny
Or some other such nonsense

2 fireblast would be nice and dragonskull summit might be a better land to use id also add 1 urborg, tomb of yawgmoth

Ah that good ol lands debate...lands are always tricky because it's all about personal taste, I started back when the tainted lands first came out so they're a personal favorite of mine, dragonskull summit is better, no doubt about it, but I like flavor...lol I need to find a way to squeeze in fireblast though...

I'm assuming he put vintage as that's the only format it's legal. But I see what you mean. One or two cards don't equal vintage.

Okay, let's be realistic...if you want your deck to be visible on this site, the more tags, the better. And by WotC's definition, this deck is Vintage.

I don't really see a point in having Rakdos Lord of Riots. 4 mana for a 6/6 with flying and trample is good but its ability isn't useful for you

Yeeeaaaaahhh I know..I'm just trying to mess around with stuff...If you have any suggestions lemme know!

I would remove stigma lasher, blighting, and duress and add in browbeat, breaking point, leyline of punishment, and rift bolt

0

Browbeat's a trap.

0

They'll always take the 5 from browbeat, even if they have 6 life. I use to love browbeat, but I've learned otherwise, gotta agree with you on that one AaronO24.

I do like leyline of punishment, but if I draw two in a game it's a wasted card. It's perfect in EDH though...

0

Yeah that's the only drawback with it. I would never run more than 2 leyline of punishments. I just feel it'd be more useful than to hopefully get it in opening hand rather than pay 2 mana, and hopefully do combat damage to the player with it as it doesn't have haste. It's just not as fast

Dreadbore is super solid, I went with terminate for nostalgias sake.

Nostalgia, or instinct? Terminate is currently one of THE go-to cards of any deck playing BR, at any level of competition. Personally, I suspect it's the latter; this is Magic, & despite all the #-crunching, netdecking, & whatever, it calls it's own. There's not a person in this game who doesn't feel that, from the KT to the PT (which is where all the PT players started). It's like the way "Star Trek" influenced people, then children, to become astrophysicists & planetary scientists; you're exposed to it, & something inside you says, "Yes". And it's been my experience that that instinct can lead you to building the most synergistic decks EVER. The first time I made the connection between "flavor" & "deck-building", it was like I jumped to a whole new plane. And once you make that jump, you never look back.

You found the great deck! And you're right, once I found the flavor I wanted, the deck took shape all on its own. It's gone through a couple versions but this one is by far the best. I'd like to think that I've acquired the ability to build by instinct alone, I always question myself, but I create things like this and just have to be a little smug hahaha.

Very happy you like this!

Yea Gran, I think that may be part of the natural progression of decent deck builders. You get to the point where your inner rolodex is working off the clock, unconsciously looking for synergistic combos. Everyone's mind works differently, especially the imagery in your mind's eye. Personally, I see a news ticker running in the dark recesses of my brain, always searching for fun and exciting combos. Once you reach that stage of magic development, you can't help but feel smug when decks just pull together seemingly of their own volition.

Speaking of, I have a new challenger you should look at for group play. I've tested it 1v1 and 3 man, and its pulling a pretty decent win record so far.

Hahaha my inner rolodex is reminiscent of light speed from Star Wars, cards whizzing past me and all such lol . Glad to know I'm not alone on that one!

And you say a challenger deck? I haven't even look at it yet, but I love the name and Norin so I can't wait!!
