Deck Description

Thanks everyone for helping to get this deck on Top Decks!

Nemesis of Reason mills 10, use Phantasmal Image on Nemesis to at least double it's mill potential.

Failing that, fast mill with Snapcaster Mage and Glimpse the Unthinkable.

Deck discussion for Nemesis of Libraries

I find that echo mage is very helpful in mill decks, especially with cards like mind funeral.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I usually think level cards are a bit too slow to be effective, but I can always playtest it and see how it runs with my deck. Unfortunately, I don't have much "extra" space in my deck just about everything in it is a necessity.

I love this kind of deck. I am not sure if you are going for a standard deck or just a casual deck but here a few cards that might help deck out your opponent as fast as you can. Extract, Vision Charm, Scalpelexis and even the famous Jace Beleren.

Give me some feedback on my decks if you have a spare minute.
Cheers,

Diplomatic Immunity?

For Nemesis of Reason? I think counter spells would work better for keeping him safe.

Diplomatic Immunity for Phantasmal Image because of his effect
just a suggestion

Diplomatic Immunity wouldn't work, since you have to target phantasmal image to enchant it, that would kill it. To give it hexproof you would need Lord of the Unreal or something similar.

WHY IS ARCHIVE TRAP IN THE SIDEBOARD? IT SHOULD BE MAINBOARDED. DUH, DONT YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MILL?

Because unless I'm playing a deck that searches the library, it's a 3 more mana for 3 more cards than Glimpse, not worth it. If I decide to splash white in the deck for Path to Exile, I'll probably mainboard it then.

a combo i always used in black blue mill was traumatize- mind funeral - haunting echoes
it normally leaves my opponent doing nothing but top decking lands while you mill him or her for the rest

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I usually don't run traumatize because it doesn't do anything until turn 5, and by that point it's usefulness decreases every turn. If I don't have it to play on turn 5, it just isn't worth it. I don't want it early game and I don't want it late game. I might add Mind Funeral and Haunting Echoes though.

I used to run Haunting Echoes in my old mill deck which was less aggressive, and although I was skeptical of it at first, it proved to be extremely useful, reducing my opponent's deck to not much other than lands.

that's true, but its still half the remaining library, which makes haunting echoes even more dumb lol

but i would say do a 2 of on the echoes and 4 of on funeral

how about one or two jace, memory adepts? the mill ten AND opponent distraction will definitely help

I definitely would run Jace, but my friends and I prefer to play without planeswalkers. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

If you mean Mind Sculpt, I'm currently considering it as my deck seems to have too much control and not enough mill. Thanks for the suggestions

You should put doom blades in the side board to replace mana leak for when you play against aggro decks using cavern of souls. That or some other kill spell.

I used quite a few cards from this deck to create my own mill deck. Check it out if you want http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=342641 Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Maybe add some Ghost Quarter to force your opponent to search their library and Archive Trap, which would then cost 0...

Haha I used to run a similar strategy using Path to Exile when I ran Esper mill. Unfortunately, it doesn't force my opponent to search, it says they "may". Since I play casually with a relatively small group of people, they tend to catch on pretty quickly and never end up searching.

didn´t read all the comment, deck looks solid. but one danger to milling decks is if the opponent has any spells putting his graveyard back into his deck. maybe put some "exile whole graveyard" into the sideboard just to be prepared

Yeah cards like Elixir of Immortality really screw a milling deck over. Not a bad idea. Maybe I'll put Nihil Spellbomb or Tormod's Crypt in the sideboard. Thanks.

Those are a good side choice, but if he wants to just get rid of those cards entirely, it makes more sense to use something like Surgical Extraction to just pick apart the cards he needs to get rid of.

Cackling Counterpart for one more blue gives you the phantasmal image that's not so easy to get rid of. And Circu, Dimir Lobotomist is handy too.

0
Posted 28 June 2012 at 03:05

Yeah, I was looking at the Lobotomist the other day, but I ultimately think that he's too slow to be worth it. Also, since most things (at least, most things I play against) which target creatures are kill spells, it seems redundant to get rid of the "Phantasmal Phrase" for one more mana. Thanks for the suggestions.

I like the Cackling Counterpart because it also has flash. Still a tad slow if your current meta is 1v1. I play in a group that's mainly 3 Headed Giant. So I have more than enough time to play all the expensive mill. Mind Funeral is the most feared.

Maybe a Szadek, Lord of Secrets could be fun! Bit expensive though :/
