Deck created by Luis Scott Vargas,
Probably the best grapeshot elves combo ever!!
It's a Green Based deck, although the winning card is red, and theres a black card in the sideboard...
The objective of this deck is to play all the elf creatures you have on your deck, then play Grapeshot.
The combo that allows you to make this is Glimpse of Nature+Heritage Druid or Birchlore Rangers+Nettle Sentinel.
By tapping your Nettle you may generate mana with Heritage Druid or Birchlore Rangers, using that mana to play an elf you have in your hand, wich will trigger both Glimpse's draw ability and Nettle Sentinel's untap ability making them able to tap again to play the elf you just bought.
Be carefull because neither Eternal Witness and Wirewood Symbiote are elfs, so when your couting your mana be sure not to count them.
If Glimpse isn't in your hand and your ready to make the primary combo you can still draw cards with a "subcombo" with Elvish Visionary and Wirewood Symbiote.
Here's an example:
On the field you have a nettle sentinel, a heritage druid and a wirewood symbiote.
You play a Visionary from your hand allowing you to draw a card. Still no Glimpse?
Just tap Nettle, Heritage and Visionary to generate 3 mana, use Wirewood's ability to get Visionary back into your hand and untap Heritage, then play Visionary again, making you draw an extra card and untap Nettle Sentinel, ready for another 3 mana =P. (and you still have 4 mana floating)
In order to make the combo consistent there is also Summoner's Pact and Weird Harvest that are really good to get any elf-in-need, such as an extra Nettle or even getting our savior, Eternal Witness.
Eternal Witness is very versatile since she can grab the unfortunate Glimpse that was countered or even did't make it at the last turn combo try... or she can get you that elf that was burn or killed, or even another go with Summoner's Pact.
There is also Regal Force, the "Game ender", since when he comes into play he normally gives you 7 or more extra cards =P wich would probably will come 70% elfs or a glimpse if in need.
I've been training a lot to master this deck and i decided to take out Viridian Shaman and place it on my sideboard (since I could't afford neither Thoughtsieze or the Jitte). and It haven't been much of a loss since the combo can go off near the 3rd turn.
P.s.
Just to mention a very common question that is made,
"Does Heritage druid or Birchlore Ranger's ability is influenced by the creature's Summoning sickness?"
And the answer is no, since the ability on both cards don't have the Tapping symbol, you may tap any elf creature, even if it just came into play this turn, as weel as heritage or Birchlore Rangers themselves to activate it's ability.
P.P.s
I've been tweaking this deck since I couldn't affor/find most cards like Summoner's Pact. and I thought that Green Suns's Zenith would be a considerable replacement, since it can get you a creture with the minor disadvantage such as an extra green mana (*hunf*... please...)
You can also tweake this deck as much as you like since it generate so much mana, (tapping nettle's to generate 3 mana, placing a 1 mana elf , untapping and tapping nettle's again generating 3 more mana... etc...etc...), you can iether put Emrakul such as i did =P or a fireball or something that requires loads of mana.
In my oppinion, the best use of the elf's super mana generation. (And it doesn't even use cards such as priest of titania or wellwisher xD)
Any questions be sure to make them on the comment's Beloww, and if you want to see this deck in action, just watch Luis Scott Vargas himself win the Berling Magic Pro Tour 2008 agaist Matej Zatlkaj here:
