*All cards in this deck are common in at least one set of their printing. Haven't been here in a while, figure I'd throw one of my latest creations on here.I have a few buddies that don't play with decks at the same level as my tournament decks, much more casual players. So I put this together to play with them. It gave me the feeling of building a tournament deck (using only commons as a restriction) while limiting the sheer power that could be manifested by only commons. The real fun was digging through all the black commons and seeing what might work together. If you build this I hope you enjoy it! I really like the synergy of this deck!
DECKThe main focus is to control you opponents board with Verdicts and Edicts. Use Hymn and Mesmeric Fiend for some hand control (actually a hymn 1st or 2nd turn can usually net you a land!). Get your lifelink flyers out asap (pay the life for Vault Skirg!) and maybe, just maybe you can get an Unholy Strength on one of them. Life gain really keeps you afloat (especially when using ashes to ashes). Use Ashes to Ashes to remove threats mid to late game (you can also use the drain life's for this as well and quite honestly that is what I usually use them for). The Deserts keep small guys from ganging up too fast and you can group them to kill a 2/2 or 3/3 (if you are lucky/unlucky enough to have all three out). First strikers, regen, protection, and unblockables make sure that you have ways to block as well as deal damage. SIDEBOARDPlaying white - take out High Guard and sub Ebon HandTokens or too many creature - Pestilence, Evincar's Justice, DarknessGraveyard - Bogs and Ebony CharmsNeed bigger guys - Wretched AnuridAll in all, just have fun with this Mono Black Common deck!
