I agree with what you are saying.
Although Legendary I don't think Glissa quite cuts it to be the main focus of a deck.
She is more a Sideshow Bob than a Krusty the Clown haha

I had thought of the elixir and deliberately left it out.
When I played against the mill decks with other decks on MTGO I was milled by the time I had 5 land (It's very easy for them to mill most of your land and Titans too.)
That wouldn't have been enough to cast a Sun Titan. I may have been able to get to 6 mana with this deck but I decided why risk it. Plus Ulamog is another way to deal with the Lux Cannon's they are running and another way to kill their Venser.

I can't wait for the Sword of War and Peace myself too.

I understand what you are saying about both the elixir and kemba.
Although against aggro, especially red I plan on bringing in +1Lifestaff +1Kemba +1 Lone Missionary +2Firewalker. So i'm not just searching for Kemba. She just helps because red can Pyroclasm, Slagstorm or Chain Reaction wiping the board.
I have actually playtested her now and she worked better than I expected actually. I wanted another fast way to fill my board up again so a red player has to continually waste burn spells. That is exactly what happend. The player just had to sweep because they continually had to waste burn spells on my creatures and I was just gaining too much life from the missionaries for them to aim their spells at my dome. With the other sideboarding options against red it is true I don't need her and if I really need another card in the sideboard you can be sure she will probably be the first to be cut.

Thanks again for your comments. I won't have a proper sideboard until I play enough games and see what decks I have to face.

I guess the name makes it sound like another Caw-Blade variant when really it isn't.
I am looking to rename it now. So I'm open to suggestions. If you have any ideas just comment here :)

Of course I own it. Why do you ask? I have been playing it for quite a while. I made a few changes with the Zenith's and Thrun when Besieged came out.

Is this a standard deck or are you open to playing any magic card?
If so Executioner's Capsule Glissa's best friend!

I absolutely love the throne of Geth / Spine combo. I have it in a red deck believe it or not lol
I also have a nice controlling blue deck running grand architect. If you really want the benefit of him you should run more 1 drops.
Not better feeling than going:
Turn 1 - 1 drop blue creature (Vedalkan Certarch / Cosi Trikster)
Turn 2 - Augury Owl
Turn 3 - GrandArchitect - then tap all 3 and play Steel Hellkite - If your opponent hasn't got an answer right then they usually have to sweep.

In your deck you run a few of my favourite mtg cards of all time: Tinker, Master Transmuter, Tezzeret the Seeker, Venser the Sojourner and Augury Owl. It's hard for me not to like this deck lol

I personally love every creature that you play in this deck. But I am wondering why so many swords?
Don't get me wrong, I love it and the abilities it offers are awesome. 4 seems a bit much to me personally though.
You have so many big finishers without infect though. It would be a pain in the ass if you couldn't deal that last bit of infect damage. Did you give thought to Tainted strike?

I my experience I always found Vampire Hexmage a better sideboard card than mainboard card.
I can understand why you would play her though considering there are so many decks at the minute boasting multiple planeswalkers.
In my personal opinion I would drop the Hexmages to the sideboard playing 4 sign in blood's instead. The life lost this way is offset by running a set of Nighthawks. This would allow you to run 2 less swords and maybe put 2 tainted strikes in their place.

Thanks for the input and comments.
I am glad somebody actually put the leg work in and tested it besides me. I really enjoy playing it, and I hope that you did too. I love that you have so many options each turn.
As I stated before the reason for the mystic and swords is for deck filtering purposes mainly.
There are some matchups though were it is feasible to sword up a hawk and attack although the deck isn't really designed to do that. It's not a bad backup plan though, considering alot of decks at the minute consider it Plan A.

The sideboard as you stated needs a bit of work. The Kemba is there only against red decks but it is not tested enough yet. But has been pretty decent in testing so far. I am definitely going to put the condemns in the sideboard though. Watch this space for the updated sideboard soon enough.

About Ulamog, in case you haven't noticed there is a resurgence of decks with a milling theme or sub-theme due to the proliferation mechanic. These decks are generally blue or blue/white controlling affairs with inkmoth nexus thrumming bird, lux cannon, tumble magnet, ratchet bomb, shriek horn and grinclocks. Some also use venser. They have decent counter magic and mill pretty quickly so 1 legendary eldrazi was put in the sideboard to combat the milling effect thanks to its reshuffle graveyard into your library ability. If the proliferation deck doesn't really make it as a deck then the eldrazi will be dropped from the sideboard. But as of now he will stay as it is better to have an answer than not have an answer. I personally got milled by a few of these on MTGO recently. Not with this deck but others and realised that I needed some sort of answer in case it materialises into a top tier deck.

Once again thanks for your comments FyreFiend they are much appreciated. If you get a chance check out my other decks too.

I started this deck with a playset of lacerators but the life loss was relevant because I was running dark tutelage mainboard. So cutting them was my only choice. Besides I didn't want this to be the same as all the other aggro red/black vampires decks out there. I wanted to do something different. The act of treason is part of my removal package (and what I designed the deck around) because I have 10 ways to sac them when I gain control of them.
I actually just have the captivating vampire in here to try him out for another vampire deck. It is usually the 4th Pawn of Ulamog. Although it is another way of stealing your opponents creatures.
I do agree about the doomblade/go for throat though. I put in the feast of blood when designing the deck as I thought the life loss from the tutelage and lacerators (that I had in at the time) would've been too much. Considering you may not always draw a Highborn.

This deck looks fun. I absolutely love Bloodghast!
If you want to see how to truly abuse it look at my vampire deck, and comment too please if you like it.

It has Bloodghast, Blade of the Bloodchief and Bloodthrone Vampire too but it also has a few other nifty tricks.
I've had my Bloodthrone Vampires bigger than 50/50 attacked with them and flinged them at my opponent.

To make this deck current Standard legal. Drop the Siege-Gang Commander's and add Ember Hauler's.

If the life loss is really a serious problem you could drop the 4 splashed red cards for white.
That way you can use ondu cleric and gain alot of life.
Plus it leaves you good sideboard options for removal of troublesome creatures, artifacts etc because white is a good colour for that.

I like the way the deck is shaping up.
I see you have taken the advice of a few other people on here.

I still think a full set of preordain's would help the consistancy of the deck. But it is difficult to work out what to drop for them.
If I was you I would playtest the hell out of it the way it is then with 4 preordains changing about the numbers of the creatures or other spells.
Oh and you will need to change the basic land ratio now that you have added more blue spells and removed some green.

No thank you.
I like the ally but does nothing for this deck.
Everything else in the deck already has an enter the battlefield effect that is relevant and synergistic with all the other cards in the deck.

This wasn't really designed to be another caw-blade type deck.
As you can see with only 3 stonforge mystics and 3 equipment in there, it's merely a sub-plot of the deck.
The Squadron Hawk is just in for card advantage and deck thinning purposes.
Everything is put in here to bounce things or be bounced to give you card and battlefield advantage.
The goal is to thin out you deck as fast as possible so that you can get to 7 Plains and an Emeria, the sky Ruin active faster than you opponent can get his mana stabalised.
The best part of the deck is using re-usable tectonic edges to criple your opponents mana base and keep them on 3 or 4 lands all the time.

That is why I suggested Canopy cover because you can't target the creature for spot removal at all when it is attached. (As well as only being able to be blocked by flyiers) Canopy cover Nullifies spot removal, period.
Canopy cover was by far and away the best card in the deck I told you about. It meant that the board had to be sweeped and with Totem armor all your creatures remained anyway.
Plus the Umbra mystic makes them all Totem armors as well which was very relevant.

Don't do that the crabs need the fetch lands to seriously speed up the milling process.
What I would suggest is a few Celestial colonade's in instead of some of your other non fetch lands. So at least you have some protection late game.

If you are milling you will need Nihil Spellbombs in the sideboard because a deck with a Legendary Eldrazi in it screws you right over.

You already have a decent enough anser to Caw-Blade in that you have condemn and into the roil for their hawks weilding swords. What you dont have is an answer to it's library manipulation using Jace and preordain. That is what usually puts it ahead in its matchups.
To combat that you will need Jace Beleren in your sideboard (or even mainboard, he nullifies their mind sculptor version and draws you cards)
Have you given thought to Jace's erasure?
It goes really well with Jace Beleren, into the roil (when you draw) and preordain.

It seems you have Trapmaker's Snare only to find your Archive trap. I would run Jace's Erasure in it's place. That guarantees a steady string of milling for your opponent.
Since you only have 2 targets for your treasure mages you could cut at least 1 maybe two. And judging by what you play against in FNM you could cut a Day of Judgment to the sideboard too. Replacing them with Tomb Scour instead. (I would play 3 Tomb Scour and 3 Jace's Erasure's)

You will need a big beater in case the game goes long and your opponents manage to drop a Titan or Baneslayer. Sphinx of Magosi is perfect as he is big when he enters but gets bigger and will draw you cards which in turn would help your Jace's Erasure's.

I have a vampire deck that does that! To be honest I would never play it without the Viscera Seer. He is the glue that holds the whole deck together. I also play as the guy stated above, Blade of the Bloodchief, Pawn of Ulamog, Bloodghast and fetchlands.

It is really aggressive and it has been known to steal creatures attck for a bunch of damage and fling a 50+/50+ creature (thanks to the blade and lots of spawn tokens) at another opponent to take 2 people out in multiplayer in 1 turn.

You should really check it out. It might give you some ideas.

Please comment or follow me if you like it. (I'm trying to add exciting new decks each week now)

I love Mortician Bettle and it was nearly going to be in my deck as well except I included the Blade of the Bloodchief and Kalastria Highborn and the beettle not being a vampire meant I had to pass on him.
Glad to see somebody is putting him to good use.

If this is a casual deck why would you run 'Boomerang' instead of 'Snap' from Urza's Legacy?
It does the same thing only it allows you to untap 2 of your lands again. Leaving you with counter mana or spell copying mana up.
