Deck discussion for relentless rats :p

Yeah, it does take less than 45 seconds to look through it. Look out for extraction cards. Hmm. Just for the heck of it. -6 rats, +2 swamp, +4 witchbane orb.

Thrumming Stone is a must here. Overall, i like the deck, please comment mine too if have time, http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=387128

would thrumming stone apply to creature spells to?

0
Posted 23 September 2012 at 06:05

yes it does, most relentless rats play the stone, rituals and sometimes lake of the dead, and some form of tutor card, thats it, your essence whatever is almost meaningless when u have 25 rats in play, actually all other cards but these ones only make it harder for thrumming stone to successfully trigger (makes your deck worse)

well i also added in coat of arms to, itll boost them up even more, i get +1/+1 for every rat on the battlefeild, that means i get extremly large rats, perfect for my stuffy doll deck :p lol

Nothing better than Essence Harvesting in the second main-phase of an Exalted deck, or Essence Harvesting off Ghoultree before you sac it with Jarad.

theres absolutly no way for tht to work out well because they would have to have already used it and thn it wuld be too late

Swarmyard - Land that regenerates your rats.

Marrow Gnawer - Rat to give all your rats FEAR. As a bonus, if they are about to die for any reason, tap him, sac a dying rat, and sprout a dozen tokens instead.

I built a relentless rats deck a few days ago, it is very similar. Feel free to take a look:

Bloodbond March is amazing with Relentless Rats, but... How do you plan on casting it with no green source in you deck? For that matter, you have nothing to play before turn three and no win con earlier than 5... at the very least, throw in 4 Dark Ritual (removing the Coat of Arms that's almost redundant with Rats and possibly 2 Memorials or sideboard the Orbs).

0
Posted 24 September 2012 at 16:44

well im not sideboarding coat of arms, i mean come on, just think about 8+ rats with +2/+2 for every other rat on the battle field, or +3/+3 if i have 2 coat of arms out, and image akromas memorial on top of that, only my stuffy doll deck would be able to do anything bout tht

0

Doubling Chant. If you would have any green over here...
Think about Woodland Cemetery or Overgrown Tomb.

drop witchbane orb, akroma's memorial, and coat of arms. for 4 dark ritual, 2 thrumming stone, and another rat

0
Posted 24 September 2012 at 18:40

the reason im not dropping the coat of arms is because by turn 7 i can have 8+ rats out wich get a +1/+1 from eachother then they get an aditional +1/+1 for each rat on the battlefield and thn i can play akroma's memorial and now they all have trample, flying, vigenlance, etc. and game over unless my opponent is running either a really good token dekk, a life gain deck, or a stuffy doll deck( i have a stuffy doll deck, go check it out, its on the top decks just like this deck but a few lower)

i can understand wanting to play coat of arms, and it only costs five so i think you can get away with playing it. but akroma's memorial seems really unnecessary. you already have an army of giant rats, making them more crazy is just a "win-more" or "cool stuff" type of thing. and at 7 mana, its just to costly

you really want dark ritual here so you can start laying down rats asap. right now your not doing anything at all till turn 3, and on turn 3 your just starting. giving your opponent such a MASSIVE advantage is just asking to lose.

witchbane orb is doing nothing for you
and while i can see how essence harvest could be awesome here i dont think you need it.
you really want the maximum amount of rats possible, to make thrumming stone as broken as possible

1
Posted 25 September 2012 at 02:39

well ill add in some dark rituals and ill take out 1 akromas memorial and ill sideboard the witchbane orbs

1
Posted 25 September 2012 at 02:44

Would Eldrazi Monument be better than Akroma's Memorial? It would make you Sac a rat each turn, But to be honest, With that many huge ass rats with flying and indestructable, if you cant kill them in three turns....You will never be able to kill them.
Just a thought.

ehhh, i wouldnt add it in here, they would get flying but no trample so i culd chump blocked all day

0
Posted 25 September 2012 at 03:52

Not with the amount of rats you have. Sure they could chump block 9/10ths of them, but the ones they didnt would kill them. And it keeps them from doing a lot of kIll spells on your rats. Besides, You would only be playing it 1 or 2 turns before you annihilate them anyway.

You could splash red for Pandemonium. Combined with Thrumming Stone. Play a rat 2 damage ripple another 3 damage repeat 4 damage then 5 damage then 6 damage then 7 damage until all your rats come out and you've dealt 395 damage with Pandemonium alone. Ive used this combo in a rat deck i had then sold, its awesome

Why is there ANOTHER relent rat deck up on the front page? This is even worse than the last one that made it up here.

And the one I made that hit front page much better built since it used a 2 drop fear enchantment as opposed to a 5 drop legendary creature that's only real use is making rats have fear. (the other ability is excessively unnecessary in a relent rats deck).

Decks make the front page because people like them. It's not the creator's fault. :)

I could rant about all the "decks" that make the front page that aren't even decks at all, just a poor excuse for a discussion forum. There are ACTUAL forums for stuff like that, no need to spam the front page with things that aren't decks.

0

Exactly. No offense was made to the creator besides having Marrow-Gnawer in the deck :P

When I look back at all the decks that make the front page I'm reminded that 98% of magic players are casual gamers that have never seen upper level play and have no desire to see upper level play. So I really shouldn't be surprised by what gets liked and what doesn't :/

I do however die a little inside when I see some troll deck or some deck that got alt-account bumped. :(

Who cares if you are a noob, everyone was once! Good job at taking the step to build your own decks, it's a lot of work and intimidating, but a lot of fun and very rewarding to win with something that was your original idea!

Your deck made the front page for a few reasons:

1 - People liked talking about it. It has become somewhat of a group project.
2 - Relentless rats are just FUN and I think most people get that any RR deck is a joke. A joke that can WIN. A joke that is powerful fun in casual play. My RR deck does nasty things to people in casual.
