293 Decks, 225 Comments, 46 Reputation

The latest version of my Dredge deck. It been evolved over many years now but the looting ban hit it hard. I have all the pieces of [[Vengevine]] and [[Gravecrawler]] variants like this: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/3469792#paper
but it felt somehow slow.

There are very fast versions with [[Hollow One]]:
https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-hollow-one#paper
but the random discard effects are a bit to inconsistent even for me as a dredge player xD

So this deck tries to focus on the discard 2 and draw 3 effects.
White is a weird color for Dredge. It has been a tiny splash for the "Helix" but now we need it turn 2.
[[Thrilling Discovery]] sadly only gives 2 life and I can't figure out how to get the incidental third life for [[Silversmote Ghoul]]

The cards included are very tightly crammed to fit in 60 cards.
20 lands have to work.
7 turn one plays in [[Shriekhorn]] and [[Haggle]] along with Fetch Lands and Triomes to fix the 5color mana base (mostly red, white and a bit green, along with black and blue splash in case the creatures need to be cast.)
8 dredge cards are far from ideal but a London Mulligan has to help finding a [[Stinkweed Imp]]
Only [[Prized Amalgam]] and 3 [[Silversmote Ghoul]] as payoffs have to do as [[Creeping Chill]] does 12 direct damage.
The rest is the least amount of interaction and utility I can stand.

Staying mono green it's tough to abuse big creatures with drawbacks.
You could fling them in red. Negate those with white or blue. Sacrifice them in black for draw / discard or damage.
Just in green you have [[Scourge of Skola Vale]], [[Repudiate]] or [[Momentous Fall]] / "Life's Legacy"

Why [[Knight of the Last Breath]]? He seems pretty unappealing to me. But well, he has 3 approaches. Afterlife, Giant and Knight.
I already proposed some Knight Cards, so this would be my first idea. Get Haakon and Inversion, some more cards that mill yourself (draw + discard effects like [[Thrilling Discovery]]) and embrace the Delirium mechanic as well.

Some reanimation like [[Persist]] or [[Unburial Rites]] could also work here.

Would this be a direction for you?

(btw. [[Butcher of the Horde]] is a Demon too, if you like that route)

Thanks, glad you like it. Really can't tell if it's better then the other color options.

Hi there. What's going on here?
Your instants are for removal and the Sorceries for hand control. Check. Bauble is for Dragon's Rage Channeler (Please play 4).
But why those other 3 creatures? Whats the plan here? They seems highly unefficient for their mana.
If you want the embrase the Delirium aspect, you could go [[Mindwrack Demon]].
A removal enchantment like [[Cast Out]] could also fuel the plan.
Tribal is another kinda unknown type. You can do much fun stuff with [[Nameless Inversion]].
If you are quickly filling the graveyard something like [[Haakon, Stromgald Scourge]] allows you to endlessly cast Inversion (as long you have the mana) and opens the door for many Zombie and Knight synergies.
Currently, I think the deck will run out of gas. You have no card draw or other use for lategame mana. A graveyard engine could fix that. Other options would be redraw creatures like [[Ox of Agonas]] or [[Bedlam Reveler]]

Good luck

oh sorry I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sure you are a great magic player. I used to be more into Modern (and all my paper decks are) but the lack of time for a local play group lured me into MTGA and therefore Standard singleton.

With [[Hound Tamer]], [[Outland Liberator]] and [[Tovolar's Huntmaster]] I curently have each one-off "utility" wolves. They aren't really doing anything for the main plan but are crucial in specific situations. Maybe if the Meta shifts in a certain direction they will be more focused.
Black based Learn decks with little chump blockers were really popular in "future 22 standard" therefore the team trample of Hound Tamer's backside seemed really important. But with Reckless Stormseeker (who maybe should be a 4 off?!) and [[Unnatural Moonrise]] Maybe I don't need more trample.
Tovolar's Huntmaster seems great in a vacuum. Topdeck on an empty bord or hasted in with [[Storm-Charged Slasher]] he is a one card win option for the late game. Problem here, the deck does not really want to go into the late game. Early agression, go wide and refuel with Tovolar is the goal. Arlinn's backside + ability is another option but having her flipped on turn 5 (with help of the opponent) is highly unlikely.
Outland Liberator, especially flipped, can deal with annoying enchs/artifacts. But if there are non on the field, he is just a 2/2 for 2. Thats so underpowered compared to other options...

Anyways, I really appreciate your help. Keep it up :)

Oh gosh non of your options strike me as very playable. If any, I prefere [[Fortifying Draught]] as the green 1 Mana Pump spell for 2, but probably just stay with [[Snakeskin Veil]] and [[Inscription of Abundance]] as they give permanent stats and have other purposes too. Reds best removal besides [[Frost Bite]] in Snow is [[Burning Hands]] maybe [[Moonranger's Slash]]. Problem here Chariot and Wren both make token(s) on entering the battlefield, so killing them with a spell is inherently card disadvantage.
You kinda need to kill the Planeswalker with battle damage.
As mentioned Chariot creates two 2/2 and Wrenn a 5/5 reach with Chariot another 5/5. If you swing all out on Wrenn the opponent will just let Wrenn die, next turn the Treefolk are 6/6 and you get struck back by 4+6+6=16 power with another growing 6/6 coming.
Long sorry short it's a hazzle to get through.

Thanks a lot. Still working on it. Tuning and refining it. The build really wants to go under the Blood Money and Azorius Control builds while also having a good mathup with the creature decks like mono green and mono white.

They all have there angle on attacking the meta right now. Black and White control decks have their sweepers which Wolves want to counter with Ranger Class and Tovolar draws.
White goes really wide and is hard to beat if its on the play. Fight Spells help and Chariot and Arlinn make multiple blockers.
Green goes tall. Our creatures are not that small though. 2 counters from Incription and night time does help. We need to trade recources as soon as possible and hope the card draw is better then theirs.
Ramp: Its true achilles. Turn 3 Chariot into Turn 4 [[Wrenn and Seven]] is kinda unbeatable and especially for this deck.
A [[The Meathook Massacre]] deck inluding these 2 will be my next deck and until next set last meta attempt. As far as I can predict right now such a deck will be Tier 1 and I can't affort more wild cards on MTGA :P

@CGB: Yea he kinda is moving the meta. Interesting to see how much influence on the game he as a youtuber has. He even made a video showing how the results changed as he published a certain deck...

@Moon: hahaha. Funny thought process you got there. I think they would stay in Werewolf form. But can't picture them in a spacesuit either.
My first attempt was Wolfsteps in the Snow. Then I moved away from snowlands and my mind made the footprint on the moon pun with the non snow name. And voila there we are.

I watched CGB's wolfs deck. He is also tweaking his deck a lot. The latest version cut the Dragon
He decided running Sentinel is better then a 1drop wolf. But I can't figure out his curve.
T1 Sentinel, T2 2 drop into nothing - as he doesn't run any 1mana stuff. Into Turn 3 Chariot without Stormseeker.
It just doesn't line up. I agree that Snow has a less funktional mana base but maybe Brawl and Frost Bite are just to good?!

Sure sounds good :)

And yes, I was gone for about half a year. I used to play a lot of MTG, then got 2 kids and my spare time kinda vanished.
Started to build some nice looking beginner decks for my sons, but with the oldest being 4 their interest just isn't there (yet).

Werewolfs immediately tickled my Innistrad senses. So wanted to make an Arena deck with them. Of cause everyone is building a similar deck but for me they were all not aggressive enough and too value/midrange based.

Could you tell me please why [[cardname]] is not working anymore?

Looks good. Glad I could help. I saw the title and was surprised we both build a dino deck at the same time...
If your getting some better lands this list might help:
https://preview.tinyurl.com/y9h7kw3c
You can change the usd<3 to what ever you like...

My version should completly be delivered in approximately a week. Kinda excited :)

Does the deck then need [[Sigiled Sword of Valeron]] or [[Dub]]? Alternatively [[Court of Bounty]] xD

Hello and welcome to the tribe of minotaurs :)
They are a tough tribe to build because their good lords suggest an aggressive build but there are really few good low mana creatures.

The demon is a good card but has no place in a tribal deck.
Wouldn't play more then one Mogis and the door should be something better.
Both entchantments don't do anything for your deck :(

A tribal payoff like Door is good, but this particular one does nothing turn 4, +1 turn 5, +2 turn 6. (If everything works out)
[[Icon of Ancestry]] is much faster and [[Vanquisher's Banner]] has more value in my opinion.
I'm using [[Shared Animosity]] in my goblins deck. Not sure if you go wide enough here.

[[Deathbellow War Cry]] is the ultimate meme but sadly needs a specific deck.
Both Nehebs are strong: [[Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion]], [[Neheb, the Worthy]].
In a world of fetch lands [[Slaughter-Priest of Mogis]] is really strong. But he also needs a bit setup.

Last cards like [[Terminate]], [[Heartless Act]] or [[Go for the Throat]] exist, you could easily improve your removal package.

[[Swarmyard]] probably is too expensive?!
You make a +1/+1 counter approach with [[Swarm Shambler]] and [[Iridescent Hornbeetle]].
Also a graveyard version with [[Crawling Sensation]] and [[Izoni, Thousand-Eyed]] could be strong.

The deck feels modern. Are Mazirek and those Roaches worth going into Legacy?
What's the hollow knight meme?

You play no cards, that care about your tribe. Is that out of meme?

Why would you build such a tough deck? Die you lose a bet or something?
Just kidding, still an archetype around waiting 3 turns for a 1/1 is not playable in any (constructed) format.

[[Thelon of Havenwood]] is a decent lord. Maybe you can go all in on him.

Otherwise I highly recommend you look into the newer Ixalan fungi stuff like [[Tendershoot Dryad]] is probably the best and [[Sporecrown Thallid]] is your lord.
Fungi that bring a spore upon entering i leaving the battlefield e.g. [[Yavimaya Sapherd]] are playable.
Play some black removal like [[Fungal Infection]] (if you want to stay on tribe)
Otherwise the card pool suggests a sacrifice theme.
[[Golgari Germination]], [[Fungal Plots]], [[Mycoloth]]... Black has a lot of auch stuff in general.

Decks build around [[Sprout Swarm]] and/or [[Life and Limb]] are also fun.

Are you intending to revisit the deck?
