Casual Modern Treefolk Deck focusing on Doran and other Treefolk synergies.
I love the many synergies that the treefolk tribe has to offer! It is one of my most simple yet consistant decks I have and my friends groan every time I play it in our casual matches. Most of the 'synergy' I've been talking about has to do with Unstoppable Ash. Not only can he 're-use' the harbinger and deadwood effects if he gets destroyed, but he makes your attackers super huge when you have doran in play and your opponent tries to block. All of the non-creature spells can be played using Leaf-Crowned Elder, so I never feel bad if I get to the point that I'm topdecking (rarely happens). I also love drawing and playing harbinger during my upkeep using L-CE's ability to set up my draw in the same turn, and again setting up my 'free card' if Unstoppable Ash gets destroyed during my opponents turn with a harbinger underneath. Of course, you need't worry about 'destroy' effects if you have a timber protector in play! Some may wonder why I don't use Dungrove Elder here. This deck is 3 colors, and even though I have almost exclusively forests, he's not what I want to play on turn 3 with a banneret in play. I'd much rather get L-CE up and running or the much larger-and-has-trample Dourbark out to start the beatings. Turn 3 DE will be a 3/3 max, whereas Dourbark often is a 5/5 trampler who can survive to turn 4 more easily (when blocking). I think DE is much better in a mono-green, non-Doran style of treefolk deck. (Even though Dourbark doesn't synergize with Doran by himself, his trample works better with both UA and Doran in play than DE's hexproof). The sideboard is pretty self-explanitory. Leyline of Sanctity against Burn/Mill, Rest in Peace against Graveyard decks (I take out the 2 Deadwoods and 1 Reach of Branches for RIP), Wickerboughs for artifact/enchantment heavy decks, and additional removal in case I need more for creature-heavy decks that have large creatures. If you have any comments on how to make the deck better, please let me know! This is mostly a casual deck, but any pointers to make it better is appreciated!
