Deck discussion for Burn (Legacy)

I would mainboard the Eidolons, they are honestly insane in the Legacy Format. I do like having 2 Price Of Progress, as it can finish someone off out of nowheres. Grim Lavamancer is alright, but not the best, I honestly think just going down to 2 is fine, If you don't like Vexing Devil much you can replace him with Monestary Swiftspears, as they kinda act like extra Goblin Guides. I also believe you can drop down to 19 lands, your curve is extremely low as is, which could make space for maybe 1-2 Searing Blood, which are actually pretty good in legacy.

Thanks, I reduced the lands to 19 and it draws much more smoothly now. Also, I like monastery swiftspear alot. I had never seen this card before, but it seems a lot more reliable than vexing devil.

I have a decent amount of Burn experience so I'll try to help you out.
Honestly, the answer to your questions mostly comes down to the meta you are playing in.

1st off, I think you would be fine to go down to 19-20 lands.
I am a big fan of 3-4 Grim Lavamancer and 3-4 Searing Blaze. Especially since you are already running several fetch lands.
I personally would remove Vexing Devil. Turn 1 and 2 he is fantastic, however you don't want to draw into him, especially when you are looking for a finisher.
Red Elemental Blast is nuts against anything thats blue heavy and gives you a chance against counterbalance and a few combo decks..
Ensnaring Bridge can come in against any aggro that may out race you but what its really there for is to give you a chance against any decks that are able to cheat out big creatures quickly like show and tell or reanimator.
Sulfuric Vortex sets a clock for the game to end, burn wants to end the game as soon as possible. It's there for control decks or any other deck that wants to slow the game down. Its whats going to save you vs any deck running batterskull and Jitte. I would run 1-2 main board with possibly 1-2 in the board. You can also bring in a few Smash to Smithereens or Shattering Spree to help in those match ups too. Also good against Griselbrand or other lifegain (using swords to Plowshare on their own creature).
Eidolon is what made burn competitive again. He swings in the early game, blocks on later turns if needed and causes that extra few points of damage you need to win quickly. I plan on putting 4 in my main for quite some time. He boards out for Ensnaring Bridge usually if you are up against a deck with a higher avg mana cost.
I feel like 3-4 main Price of Progress is right too. Its just too good vs so many legacy decks. Sure there are a few decks that it may not do much against but it and Fireblast have won more games for me that any other cards in the deck.
Searing Blood is a powerhouse against creature decks and deserves a few spots in the sideboard in my opinion.
I also like to try to sneak in a form of graveyard hate in my side for against reanimator or goyfs ect. Such as Relic of Progentius (repeatable gavehate or possible card draw), Tormod's Crypt (free) or Faerie Macabre (instant and uncounterable)
I have dropped Flame Rift from my last couple builds because it cuts too deep with Eidolon in play.

Good luck with the deck and welcome to Legacy!

This is excellent advice; thank you for replying. I reduced the number of flame rifts to 2, and I can always reduce it more if needed. I took out vexing devil and expanded the sideboard using the cards you suggested. I also placed a mixture of these cards in the mainboard to be more prepared.

However, I can still foresee PoP and Searing Blood being dead cards against certain decks. Should I be concerned about this or is 2 copies of a card I can't use in a match not particularly damning? Searing Blaze seems like it could be more useful than searing blood because it can always do player damage, but I'm concerned that landfall may be too situational.

No problem. I do keep 3 Searing Blood in the sideboard until i need them in game 2 or 3. It's great in creature match ups but your right it can be a dead draw so I don't main them.
I do main board Searing Blaze, the land fall isn't too hard to play around and its never a completely dead draw. That one damage can be very relevant vs a lot of legacy creatures and if you land fall for 3 it hits most creatures.
