Deck Description

Fairly straightforward monowhite aggro. Took this to a GPT qualifier yesterday and it performed quite well. I think the consistency and speed is what paid off in most rounds.

49(?) Players, 6 rounds:
Round One: 2-0 America Control
Round Two: 2-1 Humanimator
Round Three: 0-2 Thragtusk
Round Four: 2-0 Golgari
Round Five: 2-1 Rakdos Aggro/Burn
Round Six: 2-0 Jund Zombies

Ranked: 3rd Place.

Lost first round of top 8 cut 0-2.

How to Play

Starting hand preferably needs at least one of your 2-drops and 2 lands. Bonds of faith is the utility card here that attached to a captain or inquisitor can give your opponent a real headache, and early on. If they're playing midrange beaters confidently, save bonds for them instead. Otherwise just pump everything as best you can and ensure you keep back at least a 2-card hand for recovery from board wipes (an angel and 1 other creature normally suffices.)

Obviously side in RIP against any graveyard trickery, either for rings or cloudshift depending on what they're playing.

Divine deflection is to tip the Rakdos matchup. The kill and burn spells will give you a nightmare so side in divine deflection, and faith's shield (for cloudshift). This gives you not only a response to the spell, but then makes that creature a solid blocker/attacker for that round. Keep DD in your hand and play up to a sensible presence then just keep your lands open. DD a critical target or to get them their HP down then commit the rest of your hand to the board to swing for the win.

Nevermore as a response to any general control deck that you gain enough information about in the first round.

EDIT 14/2/13: Made a few changes since I acquired silverblade paladins. Not sure on any of the new white stuff from Gatecrash for this deck. Frontline Medic seems ok but I'm not sure I can warrant replacing any of the my 3-drops for him. If anyone has any ideas then please comment!

Deck discussion for A Cat and its Staff

rly like it, I am curious about how your game against Thragtusk went. Do you think you could have played better, or was the Thragtusk deck rly better.

I think it's not that the thrag deck is better, it's just a harder matchup.

Forgot to elaborate, it was naya thragtusk, my worst nightmare. I got slightly outpaced in the first game, by about 2hp swing when he finished me. Gavony township made his dorks able to be thrown under the bus at crucial times.

Second game he both got lucky AND I could have played better. Decided not to sideboard despite my instinct to put faith's shield or something in there for help against bonfire. He stumbled on mana on turn 3 so I decided to overcommit. He luckily miracled a bonfire on turn 5 and that was it, game over. Anything else he could have played that turn I would have won.

Ok some changes added. Anybody got any ideas for what Gatecrash has brought to this deck? (Without going Boros, that is a different deck to this)
