No Mana Artifact Beatdown

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

I was bored so I decided to toss together some manaless/landless artifact beatdown. Feel free to comment.

How to Play

Play as many of the zero cost and affinity for artifacts cards as you can each turn. Use the tooth and scale to bump some power into them when chump blocking so you don't lose your artifacts. With luck Mycosynth Golem can hit the field by turn 5-6 and then you can start dropping the heavy hitters with indestructable out and begin your offensive.

read the how to play and pay attention. Mycosynth Golem gives all of your artifact creatures affinity for artifacts.

Well Gar can enjoy getting 11 arfitacts out in order to get Myconsyth Golem. By then it's likely that he would be very damaged or dead. Well, I suppose that depends on how many decks win between turns 4-7, but what do I know.

Even if you lose ten times for that one victory, it'll be fun to just let it sink in to your opponent's mind that you won with /no/ mana.

There are some 0 cost artifacts that add mana, they could help here.

Mox Opal
Lotus Petal
Lotus Bloom

Black Lotus
Mox Emerald
Mox Jet
Mox Pearl
Mox Ruby
Mox Sapphire

The second lot are probably way too expensive, but the first lot should be more than enough. You could probably also use stuff like Springleaf Drum and Paradise Mantle.

was going for a no mana generation deck, so while those would make it function faster they'd also kill the idea behind the deck.

Same here! The cool thing about decks like this, is that your opponents won't know what to expect. That might seem silly, but it's an advantage, for you. It's very Sun Tzu. Seriously! :-)

Just from the sample draws, you may be chilling for a bit to draw into 0 costs. You won't be giving anyone beatings like that. Great idea, though. I kinda want to try and tweak it.

Liked.

Darksteel Relic as another 0 drop artifact to help with your affinity? :D

I agree, taking some of the higher cost cards out to increase the 0 cost artifacts in the starting hand would be very useful.
Also worth considering Obelisk of Urd and/or Will-Forged Golem, unless you think Convoke is cheatin the no mana production.

Urza's and/or Mishra's Bauble for a little bit of draw? Walking Archive is kind of like a three mana Howling Mine but a creature so it's affected by Mycosynth. Steel Overseer?

Yeah the Baubles would be a good addition if you have too many zero cost artifacts and not enough threats (while right now it looks like it'd be the opposite, but whatever) you can cycle them to try and dig for a threat. Good point Lycandros... :3

I loved your deck, mostly because I love artifacts in general. It inspired me to build a similar deck for casual play. I added mana production into mine though.

I love the idea, but I think there isn't enough 0 mana artifacts. I would add Accorder's Shield and Bone Saw; I know you can't equip either, what with no actual mana and all, but I think the deck needs it. Also, were this not a just for fun deck, I'd add the artifact lands as well (they basically tap for 2, thanks to affinity).

Genesis Chamber as a 2 of? I don't do much of the eternal formats, but it seems like it might be good once Mycosynth is online. Again, if you're trying to avoid manadorks and such, it's probably not as effective as I'm thinking.

I run a WU myr ndeck, and I might just modify it a bit with some of these cards

I couldn't resist. I know you like the idea of having all of these big beat down dudes, but it just doesn't work you'll be lucky to cast mycosynth turn 11 with the low amount of drop able artifacts without the golem on the field. I cloned the deck and make 12 cards changes and it runs about 200% more effective. At least take a look. As per your request, at no point does it use mana. (Even phyrexian pay life mana. Otherwise I would've added probes.)

After tryin the idea out for myself its really fun but it needs specific combos to be able to go off. I added artifact lands and paradise mantle to my version and increased its consistency drastically. It is pretty consistent at casting Mycosyth golem by turn 3 (and thus being able to drop in blightsteel the same turn). I know it strays from the manaless theme, but id rather it actually work.

I also put in genesis chamber. the main reason being, if someone knows what you are trying and counters your mycosyth golem or something like that, you can never get blightsteel out. This way you at least have a swarm of myr to whittle them down with or buy yourself some time.

Maybe add in Gitaxian Probe for draw power and hand knowledge? You would use 2 life instead of mana but it could help out

added the baubles and removed some of the bigger units for speed and a bit of control

0

unfortunately, without artifact lands or some form producing mana, it is impossible for this deck to cast mycosyth prior to turn 5 (best scenario is 7 artifacts u can drop turn 1 and every turn u draw another artifact u can drop in. Youd hit 11 affinity at turn 4 and then draw the draw the golem and play it turn 5)

The version I made with artifact lands, paradise mantle, and genesis chamber can easily cast the golum by turn 3 and pretty consistently by turn 4

But then it stopped being a "no-mana-deck" which it wants to be, at least according to description, confusingly not by title.

make it modern

0
Posted 14 November 2014 at 22:59

Would hurt the deck.
He is trying to play down 0 mana artifacts, asap, so that he builds affinity for the major bombs.
If he made it Modern, he would have to take out a total of 12 cards that cost 0 mana to cast. And 8 of those cards are chump blockers and 4 of those cards have drawing power!

Cards to consider to make it Modern:

Darksteel Relic
Mox Opal (better bring a credit card)
Lotus Bloom

instead of running Mycosynth Golem, i would run vase of secrets. even though vase of secrets isn't an artifact creature, it only costs 6 with affinity for artifacts, AND artifacts you control have affinity for artifacts. plus, a playset only costs $4.00.

With how fast affinity is already, that would be even worse

0

Okay... 8 collosi? Really? As much as I respect the idea, you really need to be running a play set of chromatic mox and opal mox, maybe lotus petal and maybe lotus bloom. The idea could be twice as cool if you could actually cast things without relying entirely on mycosynth! Also, look into colorless draw... maybe bottled cloister, staff of nin, coercive portal, howling mine?

0

Again: This deck wants to be a no-mana-deck! Hence the deck title.

"Metal Worker" artifact cost 3 colorless. Tap to Reveal your hand. For each artifact add (2) colorless mana to your pool. Could be usefull

"Mishra's Workshop" is a 1200$ card. But an artifact that cost 0 to play and adds 3 mana ea turn to your pool. Usefull for your high end creatures just incase you cant make that magical (11). Cost

"Tolarian Academy" banned card. Add blue mana for each artifact you control.

Convoke is another ability if your going for no land based decks. Here are some artifact ones.

"Obelisk of Urd" and "Will-Forged Golem" they have you tap your creatures to play them instead of mana. Obelisk tapping 6 creatures will get you 2+2+ for all your creatures.
