Deck Description

A build of eggs for the Pauper format. I'm still refining it, but I think it's at the point where it's both fairly consistent and pretty powerful.

Deck discussion for Culinary Essentials

Wicked sick, maybe i'll scrounge up the cash and get it, Think I have five bucks...
Well, thanks for the post, cool deck, main problem is the lotus petals, but only cost-wise.
Thanks for the deck idea!

Lotus Petals can probably be cut for a fourth thoughtcast, or a few faithless lootings, or even some more spellbombs mainboard (or a fourth Terrarion)

Actually, Chromatic Star costs more money than Lotus Petal ...
... I never understood this "Pauper" format anyway. I mean, this deck costs 50 dollars, that's actually more than all those budget decks here around! Times have changed, the average rare costs as much as the average common: a few cents. Shipping costs are actually a bigger factor than the card itself for about 80% of all cards. It's astounding how many dirtcheap rares there are and among them many powerful ones.

Yeah, I get it, it's more an excercise to build an all-common-deck than a way to eliminate the factor "money", then again why is it called "pauper" again?

You can blame the modern Tron players for the price of Chromatic Star, since post Twin ban they seem to be the "best deck in the format", at least speculatively.

Add in Helkite Tyrant for a win condition.

Can't; Pauper is Commons only (Chromatic Star can be included because it was originally issued at Common). Disciple of the Vault, Scrapyard Salvo, & Galvanic Blast provide the win. GJ, +1.

Ichor Wellspring seems like it would also fit in well with this deck.

The 2 mana makes it much worse, and there's only 1 way to actually sacrifice it in the deck. It makes kuldotha rebirth slightly better, but is worse than the other cards in a vacuum, so I'm not running it.

Any room for darksteel citadel? You can still sac it if you need it in your graveyard.

I wouldn't be running the basics if I didn't need the colored sources, sadly.

Okay, people...I'm just sayin'. I have no vested interest in this, as it's not my deck...though if I played Pauper, I'd probably wish it were. The point is, this is an EXCELLENT (or should I say, "eggselent") example of a budget deck THAT DOESN"T SUCK EGGS...oh, wait...okay, anyway, you get the point, right??? If you like the jd deck, UPVOTE THE DAMN THING!!! And thank you for your support. :D

You should make a Modern version.

There's a few builds of eggs for modern, my favorite of which is the shuffle combo list from here:

The version I'm running in paper is here:

I might consider putting in Atog as another way to sacrifice your artifacts and dealing damage.

4O4Error, apologies for spamming your deck (which you already know I love), but I'm on a minor mission...mainly, trying to get a lot of people to listen to "Sowing the Seeds", by Tears for Fears, & think about it. Looking forward to anything further you post...in the meantime, all you slackers, go listen to it!! (I kid...I kid, because I love.)
