Hey guys, I'm working on building a fast and powerful Treefolk Deck that is entirely based off Marcio Carvalho's Green/Black/White draft deck that won the Quarterfinals. I really want to recreate his deck, but after searching and scouring the internet, cannot seem to find his decklist. So I read and reread Devin Low's article which covered the event: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Events.aspx?x=mtgevent/ptkl08/qf4 After studying the article for quite some time, I think I've managed a rough draft of the deck. I know I have all of the key cards that Carvalho used and I'm getting close, but I can't seem to slim the deck down enough. Which cards should I take out? I highly recommend you read the article above before making suggestions like, "Take out the changelings if this is a treefolk deck." Changelings are all creature types (so are the Nameless Inversion instants), triggering all of the "treefolk spell" or "warrior" or "shaman" related abilities. Cards like Seedguide Ash and Everbark Shaman fetch any needed land. The Fertile Ground spells are there to allow a splash for white and the extra mana. All of the Bosk Bannerets are necessary to bring the cost of everything way down. With the small amount of testing I've done so far, the deck hits stride around turn 3 (which, I heard, is what is generally required for tourney decks)? Once the Thorntooth Witch(es) are on the board, practically everything this deck plays triggers its ability. Thorntooth Witch's +3/-3 ability + Nameless Inversion makes for effective removal. The Oblivion Rings are there for backup or early removal (especially of non-creature spells). Remember, the deck revolves around Thorntooth Witch and the Leaf-Crowned Elders. I think the deck needs at least 2x of each of those. Or should I run 3x or 4x of those? Any comments and/or suggestions are appreciated. I desperately need help with this! Also, once finished, do you think this deck would still be tournament-quality for modern-day tournaments? Thanks!
