Deck discussion for WHAT A LOAD OF BALOTH'S

if you're not making this standard legal, then Wirewood Savage would be an awesome addition to this deck.

I'd suggest putting plummet in a sideboard or something, and add some ramp spells. Cultivate? Explore is fun too. I'm not a fan of Beast Attack.

the reason behind beast attack is its two creature effectivly whilst carrying x 1 card, but its a little slow i grant you.

Have you thought of Call of the Herd in it's place instead? for 2 mana less, you get 2 3/3's instead of 2 4/4's. Could help the tempo that you're trying to push.

Spidersilk Armor is also a good sideboard card instead of Plummet. I have a beast deck like this and I have it in my main deck, but it's probably better suited for sideboard.

Hey not bad. I think you could do with only 20 forests, but otherwise this is pretty nice. Oh, and I'd take out the Beast Attacks for some kind of pump like Primal Bellow. And yeah, Plummet is a Sideboard-only kinda card, maybe take it out for more pumps as well.

cheers im playing a lot of multiplayer right now and im always encountering flyers hence plummet maing its way in, shear numbers is how it wins rather than pump cards although id squeeze these in if i could but as i can only play 60 ive tried to focus it, however im running into to many enchantments so im gonna have to loose other stuff for some natutralizes too i think.

I'd suggest some Terramorphic Expanses to both thin your library of Forests and to get an extra Landfall from Rampaging Baloth. And Wolfbrair Elemental doesn't quite seem to fit in this deck, but I can ~somewhat~ see it working. Also, Door of Destinies would seem to help you. Just sayin.

hi thanks for the input door of destinys would have been awsome in this some time ago when it was more of an out and out beast deck !, its since evolved a little focusing on getting maximium creature numbers out on the board thats actually why wolfbriar elemental works so well i take your point that the decks not built for it to become killer like say my mana flare / mame reflection leval up/kicker deck where i ramp mana intentionaly for things like the wolfbriar and find myself kicking it 8 times or so, but in here if i can kick it 2 or 3 times which with the mana elves and garrucks land tap ability and more forrests coming into play (primevil titan) is not uncomment than 1 card producing 4 creatures is gold dust, havent run the terramorphic expance as i need maximium green in play untapped quickly i do rely on speed with this it kind of doubles as a sort of stompy green deck even though some cards are not stompy it does play that role, if i ran more rampaging baloths i would defo consider adding them but at present i find 2 and 2 primevil titans is enough i run 2 and 2 rather than 4 baloths as they work so well together.
many thanks.

Depending on your available cash, I would recommend some of the Zendikar feth lands over the Terramorphics he's suggesting. Verdant Catacomb and Misty Rainforest can both fetch the forest you need, bring it into play untapped, at the cost of just 1 life, which is nothing if you're getting two 4/4's out of the deal.

i see the benifits of the landfall ability of the baloths however i only run 2 in this deck and i dont want to sacrifice the other stuff to centre around two baloths, i agree how nicley they work though thank you.

I agree with Slaycir about TE. I have a few Landfall creatures in my beastie deck and that works out really well, giving my Baloth Woodcrashers +8/+8 every time I use one. I also use Explosive Vegetation in my deck and I may suggest replacing the Beast Attack with it. If you have your Rampaging Baloths out that is two 4/4 beasts for 4 mana in a single turn.

0

mmmm ! i do genuinley see the benifits from both, can i ask how many baloths with landfall are in your deck ? (thanks for the advise and rsvp) cheers.

Right now I only have 3 Territorial Baloths and 2 Baloth Woodcrashers. I am hoping to get another couple Woodcrashers and would love to get my hands on some Rampaging Baloths. I also use Hunting Pack (sometimes I'll put 2 in my deck) which also works really well with the AEther Charge that I have. I can't wait to use the Rampaging Baloths with it.

Here is the link to the deck that I am currently using.

(i have and also wirewood savage, i played multi player recently with a howling mine in play and with hand replenishment this deck produced crazy amounts of creatures, however as a all round deck i find its best when it swamps quickly before my opponent can build, now running the wirewood or the packleader is a go setting up for myself i made this deck very focused on speed and multiple creature generation, i find that if i just swing and add creatures each turn this is the most effective way of winning, again i agree and see the benifits but all i can say is from extenisve playtesting i prefer the stompy nature of the deck and find it most effective, cheers and good recommendations.

0

great idea !, i find however that i get some early stompy damage and then if my opponent does start killing things off its a case of building up numbers and keep swinging, it dosent really matter what he kills as long as i can produce more , i find this more effective by dropping new spells rather than relying on such creatures dying i ran mitotic slime in here for some time but found it was a fraction slow for its mana cost comapred to other creatures when i looked at my curve i found that i only really wanted to accomodate a handfull of big creatures and the benifits of the wolfbriar's, the rampaging baloths and the primeevil titans stole it for me from the slime, thats all, i'm not that familer with the other penumbra series cards, thanks.

you need more lands that fetch lands like harrow or kodama's reach in order to get things out quicker and activate baloth's landfall ability

this deck produces an elf turn 1 a Leatherback Baloth go 2 and garruck on go 3 !, i only run two rampaging baloths, whilst i see how your cards are working i dont believe speed is an issue would find harrow slower as it would build mana but not have anything on the board, and cool as they are with the baloths id want to be running 4, to nessesatate playing fetch lands ect, i like the primevil titan with the baloth but am always happy enough to see him on his own, so hes in there as a combo but also stand alone this deck was never centred around the baloths, great suggestion and they certainly work ive just focused the deck a bit differently. cheers.

If you are really looking for more creatures for your mana I would recommend Howl of the night pack. In your deck, it's pretty much pay 7 get 7 or more 2/2 wolves. Usually better than wolf briar elemental.

0

good card and certainly fits the theme however i ramp man a in this deck using elves rather than building forests, there are time when just kicking the wolfbriar once or twice is enough and thats 5 or 6 mana over 7 and also himself as a very usfull 4/4, i'd be limited with Howl of the night pack.i'd always need 7 mana and if i'm using elves would prob only be looking at 4 or so forests 4 2/2's the same mana with the wolfbriar using elves would produce 1 4/4 and 3 2/2's, and i have the flexability of kicking it less for less mana, using harrow and so forth Howl of the night pack.would certainly produce more creatures but then id loose early speed and creature numbers elves are invaluable when over running with garrucks ability, cheers.

Cultivate, Harrow, Explore... All good options in a deck like this, otherwise is tends to be too slow. I would also recommend a few Spidersilk Armors to protect against flyers, which would be this type of deck's weakness.

I've also found cards like Captivating Vampire to be a weakness for this type of deck, so perhaps a provoking beast like a Krosan Vorine or Brontotherium for creature removal would help you against cards like that. That is, of course, only if you get caught without your Ravenous Baloth on the battlefield which DOES happen.

his deck produces an elf turn 1 a Leatherback Baloth go 2 and garruck on go 3 !, i only run two, whilst i see how your cards are working i dont believe speed is an issue would find harrow slower as it would build mana but not have anything on the board, plummets deal with flyers and remove them which i prefer, i agree removal is an issue in here i'll look into the Krosan Vorine or Brontotherium idea thanks.

ok had a look - forgive any arrogance but most vampires fly - so plummet, and i really belive that by the time they have produced 5 to pinch a creature i'll happily loose that creature and out multiply them as for the boost ability of Captivating Vampire beasts are pretty big and i tend to win most ground battles, i accept that i'll swing with this and loose creatures in combat the pisser comes when at the end of my combat phase i drop 4 more into play, its classic beat down , cant say ive found the vampires a huge problem. obvioulsy i'm aware that there are exceptional vampire decks out there but then were talking whole decks arnt we, many thanks certainly got me thinking but i remain confident (just lol) thanks.

Consider trading the nature's claims for gleeful sabotages. With the emphasis on getting out a lot of creatures, you'll have more than enough to copy it as many times as you need and still have creatures left to use. And remove the beast attack, too costly for only two beasts. Maybe add another rampaging baloths at least.

Also if someone you want to help me out with either my rise from the ashes or landfall (all hail the woodcrasher :D ) it would be greatly appreciated.

if i'm honest i dont like giving the life back with the natures claims however its an instant which i prefer and as this deck is pretty quick i only usualy need to remove the odd one, so not sure if the extra mana cost and copying is needed, its another option though and does avoid the life back ill give it some thought cheers and i'll check your deck asap pc had a virus so been offline so a bit of catching up to do 1st cheers.

acyally fresh meat is not s good as i have to leave my mana free not what i want with a deck that plays kinda quite stompy i find that green suns zenith fits the bill as its one cards but as it reapears and provides me with a creature each time im getting several creatures from 1 card, and this is the better choice.

update - ive added the doubling chant as it fits this deck perfectly its all about getting out multiple creatures and swamping the opponent and it dosnt break my no more than 6 mana rule for this deck, better option than the fresh meat as you dont have to sit waiting with land untapped.
