Sacrifice your own creatures to the Blood Host to pump it up and gain life. While doing that, Dictate of Erebos causes your opponent to sack their own creatures. So long as Athreos is in play, the opponent has to make a Sophie's choice; do they let you get your creature back so it can be sacked again, or do they lose three life? You're gaining life at the same time, so you're racing against each other in opposite directions. Grim Guardian and the Spitefuls eat away at their life even moreso, getting out there nice and early to weaken the opponent into desperation mode.
