Here are some very frequent modern decks, and my ideas on how to put up a proper fight against them.BURN- Board in Firewalker and Thrun. Firewalker is a great Monastery Swiftspear blocker.- Find Kitchen finks and recast it as often as possibleJUND- Board in Stag and Crusader (immune to Abrupt Decay and Terminate) and Thrun - Cards discarded can be recovered with Witness, Titan or Emeria if the game goes long- Ghost Quarter manlandsMERFOLK- Board in Choke- Board in surgical extraction and destroy spreading seas, either with Pridemage or Ghost quarter your own land. Surgical extraction on it and forget about islandwalking. Same with Aquitect's Will, and normally no merfolk deck runs Sea's claim.AFFINITY- Board in Kataki, Pithing Needle (for Cranium Plating or Ravager) and Stony silence- For creature-heavy affinity, board in Wrath of GodELDRAZI- Board in Wrath of God. They have bigger creatures, you have more + the ability to revive them. - If they run blue, board in ChokeUW/UWR CONTROL- Board in Stag, Thrun, Spellskite and Choke. Really important that the choke sticks, once cast these decks usually have no way to destroy enchantments. - Board in Gaddock Teeg against Sphinx's Revelation, Supreme Verdict and Cryptic Command. Protect it at all cost (Saffi, Angel, etc)- These decks tend to counter all creatures and boardwipe, making the games go long. Emeria profit. Also, boarding in Dosan makes it kinda hard for the opponent to counter anything you play...ZOO- Board in Mirran crusader and Wrath of GodSCAPESHIFT- This might be a little trickier, since it's just a "land-interaction" type of deck. Board in Choke (make it stick and bye bye counters) and Gaddock Teeg (Scapeshift is CMC 4)- Ghost Quarter any non-basic non-mountain so it can't be sacrified, and try to win as much life as possible with FinksIf anyone has suggestions or improvements in mind, please tell me.Thank you ;)
