The main point of this deck is to destroy opponent's monsters, while bringing out a nice few of my own. Comments/improvements are more than welcome. *side-note* Combo; Basilisk Collar & Sword of Vengeance. BYTHEWAY; I'm new to magic, so please, if any suggestions are suggested, please state why and what to remove. (i.e. combos, pros and cons, etc. )

I love black, and the fact that they have finally found new undead to use for tribal (instead of zombies) made me so happy. Since you're a newer player i will try to shine some light on your deck for help. Removal is black at it's best... quick creatures (like vampires) are a plus. Unfortunately i see a lot of high casting cost creatures... Kalitas, Nirkana, Wurmcoil, and sorta Anowon. The planeswalker's add to the high curve. I love Gatekeeper of Malakir... another vampire that's great is Vampire Hexmage, she kills planeswalkers instantly for two mana! Awesome! Blade of the bloodchief is great, especially equipped to Bloodthrone Vampire and Bloodghast on the battlefield. Blade of the Bloodchief is also excellent on Anowon, but i think you knew that already. Hideous End is great removal, but feast of blood i only use against other black decks, i'd sideboard them and add 4 doom blades. I'd drop the 4 Quag Sickness as well and add 2 Consuming Vapors. That card is amazing. With Consuming Vapors, Anowon, and 4 Gatekeepers i would remove Kalitas or maybe one Nirkana Revenant and add Abyssal Persecutor. Hope this helps...

thanks man! I was honnestly thinking about ditching nirkana, i just like her for the mana ramp. i only run 1 kalitas because hes a 7 drop, but his effect is amazing. anowon is a personal favorite, lol. i forgot to add hexmage to my sideboard, shes a planeswalker killer for sure! and about abyssal persecutor, the you cant win and your opponent cant lose, that doesn't really sound all that great to me. i chose quag for the fact that it can take out industrcutibles, and it doesn't specify colors. doom blade wont do me well against black. so i could keep quag, side board doom blade, and also sideboard 2 consuming vapours, incase im going againt another quick removal deck. sound good? im really looking for nirkana replacements, something to give my deck a little bit more strategy. maybe diabolic tutor? maybe even painful quandary, for card advantage and removal. i really appreciate your help, :)
Make a proxy deck to test with a friend, run 4 gatekeeper of malakir's, 4 abyssal persecutor's, and 4 consuming vapors, add whatever else ya want... i'm tellin ya, that persecutor is beast... I just played in an extended tourney not long ago and ran that combo of cards and i won the tourney. That Demon is such a power house. 4 mana for a 6/6 flying, trample asshole. Once you see how good he is, you'll wonder why you even were worried about the "no winning" thing
drumhead is right.... persecutor is a freaking beast! he is a game winner by himself without question
Alright man, thanks (: and i guess if i ever got my opponent down to 0, i could just target myself to sacrifice him. but again, thanks !
Exactly... he's a beat stick, use'em and lose'em
i think you should add another swamp for good luck
So, new improvements. dropped 1 drana and nirkana for 2 hexmage. mainly would like comments for the sideboard
HOLY @#$%! You actually own these cards? Wow.
....theyre only cheap
it only an 80$ deck i have a 250$ dollar deck
You gotta run 4 Bloodghast and 4 Kalastria Highborn. In addition to being two of the best vampires in the game, they also are sick together, since every time Bloodghast gets killed you can pay for Kalastria. To fit these guys in, I would drop all 7 of your most expensive cards. Don't get me wrong, they are all good cards, but the speed boost this move will give you is amazing. Not to mention you will start winning games off those two cards alone. For the 8th spot I would drop the Swords of Vengence. Again, great card, but SLOW! You play it T3, and equip it T4 right? Thats a major mana investment. Its the same as THREE bloodghasts! And, once the equipped creature gets killed, you gotta waste the mana again. Plus artifacts are easy to kill. The other sword can be replaced by another Blade of the Bloodcheif. Every reason not to play the Sword is a reason to play the Blade. It is up and running for less than it costs to drop the Sword, it makes the vampire MUCH harder to kill, and if it's destroyed... well, your Night Hawk is still a 6/7. I do not like Quag Sickness. Its costly, and very inefficient. Run Grasp of Darkness instead. Its one mana cheaper, always gives -4/-4, and... Name an indestructible creature with toughness greater than 4 that costs less than 7 mana... Oh wait, you cant. I mean, yea, maybe if they drop a Blightsteel you would rather have Quag. But for Quad to kill him you need 11 swamps... not really happening. On the sb, I would add Duress for sure. Its a simply wonderful card vs control. Then add its twin, Inquisition of Kozelik. Bye bye goblin guide! Also, you can target yourself with IoK to discard bloodghast if you wanna try some shenanigans. Consume the Meek is a major no no. It kills all your guys. That cards for decks with 3-6 creatures.
i was hoping nobody would comment on this deck... hahaha. it was my first ever deck, this deck got me into magic. i know it sucks, but i kept it the way it is so I could remember where it alll started. I appreciate your comment, by all means it is helpfull, but this deck is more for sentimental sake. :P If you don't mind, though, can you check my mono black control? that deck is actually being worked on/used. thanks again, man.
p.s., nice to see you back around mtg, you appeared to have gone for some while
I just learned how to play ( i know super late to the game), but I made my first few decks and was wondering if anyone could maybe check them out and give me a little constructive criticism . I'd sure appreciate it!
Nice little deck you have here, first thing i would do is sub out the 2 swords and replace them with blade of blood chief as you could have it equiped to a vamp by turn 2 instead of waiting for turn 4-5-6 with the sword. i would also sub out a couple of quad sickness for doom blade. Finally, im not sure whayt you could remove but id definatly try and get a couple of Sorins Vengence's in there. They are overlooked/undervalued at the moment in my opinion as a 20 life turn around ( drain 10 and u gain 10) for 7 mana is a fantastic deal. Im sure there will be alot of new vamps in Dark Ascension and there are quite a few in innistrad that you could probably pick up cheaply and sub in for a few that you are currnetly using but i think you have a rather solid deck there.
this deck is horrible, lol. this was my first deck ever built. hence the title 'disregard this deck' lol thank you for the advice, though! either way the time you put into it is much appreciated!
Once updated with some of the new cards, it could be awesome.
*sigh* I appreciate the feedback, but guys, disregard this, please. The last thing I wanted was for this to hit the front page! :P This was my first deck EVER, hahaha, I know it's dreadful.
Ah well. Public opinion of you on this site will decline for a short period of time. :) You'd think they'd know by the title. Don't worry, most people still know you don't just build horrible black decks, and you can ask them to remove it. Your Hellrider tokens deck is pretty interesting, by the way.
Hell of a lot better than the first deck I ever made. I was 4 and a half at the time...but *shrugs* details =P
hahaha thank you both!
Memories. The first deck I made was a 112 card casual deck running anything from Shield Mate to Coastal Drake (not playing against Kavus, of course). Basically, a ton of commons from Urza and Masques blocks with no focus, good cards, or good interactions. :) Now I have a casual red deck from those cards that has a curve of 1=Flailing Soldier, Goblin Patrol, Reckless Abandon 2=Flame Rift, Scent of Cinder, Flame Jet 3=Arc Lightning, Browbeat, Shivan Raptor 4=Keldon Champion With a couple Landslides. Fun, fun, fun. I'll put it up on Vault.
My first was made from a bunch of commons from legends to mirrodin. I won't ever remember any of the cards in it, but I do remember one of my first "good" decks, and by good, I mean it won games. I would've been 9 years old then.
hey man im pretty new to the game myself i got me a vamp deck you got to use vampire nocturnes he is sick and only a 4 drop gives all vamps plus 2 plus 1 and flying with bloodline keeper and captiviting vamp on the field its game.
Please help me build my deck! http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=308659
