Champion is rotating out, and most people are looking forward with their deck builds. Probably not a bad add to the sideboard until it actually happens, though.

There's no point in flirting with check lands when they're rotating out in a month. Suck it up and get the Stomping Grounds, or swap out for basics.I would probably drop the white. I realize this is a deck where you own all the cards (I like looking at these, rather than the untested pie-in-the-sky decks people clutter this place with), but Domri Rade would be an awesome replacement for Aurelia. I know he's pricy right now, but I suspect he'll drop significantly once Theros comes out (I remember him being ~$10-12 and he's popped up to $25 in the last month or so).
Pyreheart Wolf will be rotating out of Standard pretty soon, so while it's a nice card (I think the CMC is a little high for what he gives you) I'm trying to stick to the RtR block, and see what M14 & Theros bring to the table. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
I haven't played any games with it where it would have been more advantageous to play (i.e. spot removal has been more useful than anything Skullcrack could help with). Sideboarding it is a good idea though!
Their, there, they're. Passed, past. It's, its. Learn 'em. You might want to read your "How to Play" out loud so you see how it sounds, too.
I do have a Sol Ring in one of my other EDH decks, but most of those other cards you mention (with the exception of Maze of Ith) are very reasonable to purchase. Thanks for the ideas!Question - do Basilisk Collar & Quietus Spike work with Niv's ability? I thought deathtouch only meant *combat* damage.
I guess for the flavour of the deck, he's the only other standard red planeswalker to put in. As pointed out downthread, vexing devil would be a nice addition, but it all depends on what the deckbuilder wants to do for fun.
So for us regular folks who don't have four Gaea's Cradle and two Doubling Seasons, what would you recommend adding to the deck? It looks like a lot of fun, and it's sweet to see some Fallen Empires love!
While Temporal Extortion fits the deck nicely (heck, it even has extortion in the card name!), what would you change it out with to make this deck standard? Filling your sideboard with your ideas would be cool.
Maybe I'm blind, but where do you get your blue mana from to use Door to Nothingness?
I love budget decks, as the way I've built up my recent cards since getting back into Magic after 15 years is to patiently wait and get a common/uncommon set off of eBay for ~$10-15. I love looking at a deck where I can go down the list saying, "Check, check, check..." and be able to put it together without worrying about having playsets of expensive mythic rares. Thanks for this deck, and keep 'em coming!
I like the codex shredder in this deck, even though it's a weak milling card. It gives the nice option of pulling something out of your graveyard if the (rather expensive) need ever arises. Take out the Hinterland Harbors, and this becomes a pretty cool $20 deck.
I would figure out a way to add in some Sands of Delirium. Sideboarding some Tormod's Crypt would help with those pesky reshuffles (although nerf your Phantasms)
Erg... never mind my suggestions, which would pull you out of Modern...
Looks good. The only thoughts I have are perhaps sideboarding Llanowar Druids in there, and maybe finding a way to sneak in a Sol Ring. If you wanted to add more cost to the deck, you could always add in Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary, too. Otherwise, this looks like it would be a super fun deck.
You have six Fyndhorn Elders in there... What would you replace two (or four) of them with?
That's a clever deck, plus I love, Love, LOVE the fact that it's nice and cheap. Reminds me of the day I bought a really beat up clone for $5 back in the late 90s. How times have changed (and prices fallen).
