You should focus less on winning turn 1 and instead focus more on getting your combo pieces together at all. The chances of getting your dream hand there are next to zero. Just use the "draw sample hand" button here, you can click that all day and never get the hand you need.

So, get rid of most of those useless creature removal and add tons of library manipulation, card draw and things that protect you or your combo. Just reading this requirements should tell you that you need blue as a secondary colour, not red (but you migth still keep Fling as a splash).

with the draw sample hand, its inaccurate, because it is truly 100% random, whereas with physical cards, even if somebody else shuffles my deck, with unmarked sleeves i can still usually guess 5/6 cards in my opener and be right.

Your right Fling is useless, but he does have a lot of removal incase his dream hand doesn't happen and he needs to keep a board clean. also red has some rather decent card draw across the ages.

Finally most people (at least in my meta) will just concede with a t1 Marit lage on the field, so dropping a dark ritual and lightning greaves narrows it to 4 cards which is more likely, and achievable if you use the "draw sample hand" feature :P

What does it matter if you can guess your cards. You need your set to pull of your combo. I've never been lucky enough to draw six out of the seven cards I need in my first draw. What kind of shuffling goes on in your group? I think Puschkin has a point. Maybe your are blessed by the gods and luck favors you so you draw what you need when you need it. But me I do what Puschkin says. I focus on synergy and library manipulation.

The Hexmage/Dark Depths combo isn't exactly new, it was played in tournaments as early as 2009 (when Hexmage came out), but as I said, if you want to be successful, you need a healthy dose of library manipulation. Illegally stacking your deck and/or insufficient shuffling aside (two things that are illegal) there just ist no way mathematically and practically, where you would draw what you need. Just having in your opening hand a combo of 2 cards that are in your deck 4 times each is below 20%! This deck here needs 5 different cards, one of them 2 copies, to go off first turn. You can play 100 games without pulling that off!

I was more thinking along the line of Ponder, Brainstorm, Sensei's Divining Top and Lim-Dûl's Vault. You need to get rid of most of your creature removal.

Now we are talking^^ Make some test games now. You still won't kill on turn 1 but turn 2 kills are possible now and turn 3 kills could be the norm.

do you know of a good site i could enter my deck in and play test games?

No, I prefer "papermagic" and use MTGVault only to plan my decks and to get some assistance. You could always rpoxy your deck and play some goldfish games.

i threw this deck together and played 25 games with it, I won 5 of them on turn one 5, another 6 of them on turn 2, 4 on turn 3, so this deck def has potential, the problem this deck faces is the force of will or daze against your hexmage which people will mull for (daze not a problem unless you space a forget you still have a mana floating)

I should also note that the only ones I won by actually swinging were the ones on t3, the others were concedes

thanks for doing this research! i printed this deck out too. i got pretty much none turn 1 wins, 3 turn 2, and like 6 turn 3.

so I'd say the avg win for this deck is probably turn 2/3

Also running 4x Cabal Ritual would slightly increase the odds of getting this combo on the first turn.

Sideboard. Good, but there is a small chance of getting threshold.

Your turn 1 combo is only six cards so one Dark Ritual could be replaced by two Cabal Rituals (or two Simian Spirit Guides or two Elvish Spirit Guides). Threshold doesn't matter in this case.

Like I said it's only a slight increase.

Now that you've changed the deck, the lotus petal seems almost useless. How about that card that lets you do a special mulligan? I forget what it is called.

Serum Powder. Problem is, that card is pretty useless otherwise.
But I am not sure if the Petals are useless. Don't forget that one of your combo cards is a land.

A play set if streetwraith is good for deck shrinkage. It cycles for life rather than Mana.
