well the ability to eliminate all of your opponents lands always helps, and you cant argue with the fact that this deck won the 2009 gp can you??? :)
of course not, but winning the championship is nothing more then luck. at the top level of mtg it is impossible to distance yourself from the competition by a large margin, especially in standard. naya decks were the norm in standard play, this one isnt very different from tons of others ive seen. im not denying the players skill, the rest of the deck is quite good, but the planeswalker can be killed with a single lightning bolt, and considering the metagame (which is absolutely full of lightning bolts) this is a very likely occurance
fair enough, i have a deck i made in mind that would absolutely wreck this... (Best artifact deck eva)
Vengeant normally would be killed by a lightning bolt, since most players enjoy lightning helixing a creature or their opponent. Plus you're forgetting this deck was made for one reason, to beat Jund. It obviously did a good job of that, but it has issues beating other decks. It's such a tool box deck, and let's not lie Ajani is one of the best planeswalkers.
ajani is a great card, the phrase It only falls to doomblade or it dies to a lighting bolt doesn't mean much. a lot of great cards doo . doesn't meant they aren't worth playing
thats like saying it only gets countered by a counter spell. whick works on more cards than doom blade or lighting bolt. but you wouldn't not play a card just because it can be countered. i think my point is proven
