The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

The Goal:
Elite Arcanist + Silence

The Means:
Elite Arcanist + Silence

The Fix:
A full esper control suit geared up for m14.

How to Play

This is Esper control, with a pretty solid win condition. Simply pay one and tap a creature, and prevent your opponents from casting. This is reminiscent of good old Isochron Ceptor but hey, old habits die hard.

I am more of a white player, but when I saw Elite, and then again with doom blade back in standard, I was hit hard with flash backs of m12. Doom blade is just too damn good for its mana.

Quicken also re-awakened some hard to pull off combos that were seen in my USA mid ranged deck with Hypersonic Dragon. There wasn't much better then a swoop in hard hitting dragon that left a field wipe in its wake. Especially after some tapping out.

As far as this deck will go though, I am not entirely sure. Those lands look pointy, and this deck has a very squishy life total. Yet you should hit your elixirs and your extort before time runs out.

Traumatize is a fill card I want to play test. Same with tome scour. The win condition is mill (why my choice between Render Silent and Psychic Strike wasn't hard) and it's protection is control and draw. So essentially, this deck is built around Jace.

DuskMantle guildmage finds a spot mainboard simply because I have a few of him laying around. Pay three and use jace's zero for game? Seems too simple.

This deck will probably have you cycling a few elixirs per game, and kill around turn ten+ on average. Not bad seeing as 6 of the 10 turns your opponent can't cast any cards.

However, with the green support in M14, they might not need to cast anything at all. With the right enchantments, they'll be playing cards from their hands. This combo seems fast enough, but R&D always provides ways to play around even the hardest of combos. So I added the Tesya. A one of, but seeing as you'll be drawing, she'll say hello a few times.

A sideboard is all about the meta game and what you expect to see playing. Until I hit a tournament scene, I am thinking about just the usual anti aggro sideboard. Seeing as I am not sure, I will not put one up yet.

Deck discussion for Hold on, I am not done drawing

I was running a pretty insane bant build before M14, but with all the guild and color hate coming towards my deck, I went for one that isn't as strait forward. Sure they introduced, and reintroduced, plenty of cards to shut down esper and that makes this deck vulnerable, but I like this build because it uses mill as its win condition. Seeing as this deck hits the draw pretty quickly, and spot checks with a healthy heathy amount of counter/removal, I am not too worried about the color hate in m14, seeing as I will usually have more than one game ending threat in hand at any given time.

My biggest concern is that this deck is highly centralized, elite arcanist and jace are your win conditions, without them, you just have a collection of draw cards, and a bit of removal.

a powerful burn spell could be amazing in this deck, as long as you could cast it every turn with elite arcanist.
