Deck Description

First deck created and wanted to use my god card Karametra

I basically had to focus on landfall as all Karametra EDH decks must. I wanted a sub theme of hydras because of the insane number of land that can be spammed out. the first priority is to get to five mana to throw out my commander, then find ways to abuse the landfall trigger like whitemane lion or emancipation angel.

I really do need some help on this and any advice is appreciated

Thank You

Deck discussion for EDH Hail Hydra

you need to remove 1 card for legal edh.

i think you dont need sol ring and leyline. and there a lot of cards, i will change for something more usable. a lot of landfall creatures are not needed and you have a lot of options there. i have karametra edh and only one landfall card there is avenger of zendikar. i sugest in this deck a lot of global destroys (wrath of god, day of judgement, sunblast angel...), some solutions (dountless escort, beast within, slice in twain...) and a lot more... vorinclex, mana reflecion, priviledge position, emeria sky ruin...

Sol Ring is pretty much NEVER not worth running unless you've got some weird artifact hate thing going on.

draw sol ring is good only in first 5 turns, then its only crap, which is doing nothing. when you play karametra as general, and with a lot of landfall as this deck do, you wanna play wood elves and this sort of things most likely than sol ring. even rampart growth is better in this deck i think.

I have Karametra EDH and i play only one landfall think (avenger of zendikar), and i dont play sol ring.

Spending one mana to cast an artifact that perpetually saves two on every one of your turns is never, ever crap, and I'd wager 99.9% of EDH players share my opinion in that regard. There's a reason it's the most ubiquitous card in the format.

I get not running it for theme reasons, etc. I myself don't run it in my enchantress deck for just that reason. But don't kid yourself regarding how strong it is. It may be literally the best card in EDH.

Don't listen to him, Sol Ring is essential for any EDH deck. You run creatures like Kamahl and Hydra Broodmaster, that Sol Ring will always be useful.
However, he is right about and EDH deck having to consist of exactly 100 cards (including the commander), so you need to cut a card. Also, it is custom practice here at MTGVault to place the commander in the sideboard.

it is thing of angle of view and experience. i know that, if i play sol ring, it will catch at least one destroy. and if i draw it in late game, i will not be happy, coz there are a lot of better thinks to draw. and in karametra especially. i dont have problem with mana never.

and best edh card ever is coiling oracle :D

lifeblood hydra will by good there i think

There wll always be cards that are good early and bad late gmae and vice versa. However, there will always be an early game but sometimes there will be no late game! The advantage from an early Sol Ring is waaay too big to ignore. And Sol Ring isn't completely useless in lategame. It's still two mana for one card. There are more than a dozen cards that will benefit from Sol Ring even in lategame because they have an X in the casting/activation cost, use mana every turn or draw additional cards.

There *may* be decks that don't need a Sol Ring, however, these would be the "weenie" decks of EDH that don't want to get into the lategame in the first place. This isn't one of those.

Myriad Landscape gives you another Krosan Verge.

Skyshoud Claim and Explosive Vegetation both put the lands into play for double landfall triggers.

With that many creatures Lurking Predators would wreck some dudes.
