With preeminent captain out and any soldier card in hand you can get rolling nice.Yes some of the cards cost 5, 6 or 9 mana but you have to take in consideration that the big ones are flashback costs that double things along with kicker type cards that also double creatures. Pair that with the enchantments and OMG do things get big and rolling. Yes I understand big things can be bad but only if you can do something about them other wise you screwed.
Ok perfect first hand draw is about 3 Mana, preeminent captain, and pretty much any soldier creature. If you can get captain of the watch out using preeminent captain, then you off to a great start. When you draw intangible virtue, try and play it that's why it is in the deck, you play that and then all the tokens you have get +1+1 and vigilance. By the way tokens are a very big part of this deck if you did not already know. That's also where Elspeth comes into play by putting 1/1 token on the battle field. As all this is going down and you actually have enough Mana, play increasing devotion, it gets 5 soldier tokens out and you can play it form the grave for 9 Mana and put 10 soldiers out on top of the 5 already out. I really only use Cathars crusade early game "maybe"..... just because when you have all those damn tokens coming out and activating cathars ability giving all creatures +1+1 counters for every creature coming into play on you side of the field. Also on a side Note I forgot to mention pulling out angelic overseer, is very nice but to be used effectively you need a human, because if there is a human out she gains hexproof and is indestructible.
