Deck Description

BEHOLD, THE ULTIMATE DECKBUILDING CHALLENGE! PROVE YOUR WORTH AND CREATE WHAT YOU THINK IS THE GREATEST DECK USING THE MOST POWERFUL INFINITE COMBO VAULT HAD EVER SEEN!!!

How to Play

Listed above are the three cards that gained me the notoriety I have on vault today, alongside many others who are my equals or better. I challenge everyone that reads this to take that combo, and make a deck you think is worthy of using that combo.

This is the original deck that took vault by storm:

Deck discussion for The Ultimate Deckbuild Challen

It may take a while to come up with a (hopefully) original idea, but I'll take a crack at this.

lol... I actually built a deck around a similar combo the other day. with pili-pala instead of gilder bairn.

that being said I shall attempt to rise to the challenge presented here.

He (She? It?) works too, but I wanted to see what crazy counter decks people could come up with vs a really cool mana engine

yeah. which is why I didn't post it here. I am, however, working on a gilder bairn deck to post here.

Aside from Helix Pinnacle not working with the combo (damn that pesky shroud!), it looks fun! I do suggest upping the land count a bit and picking the better creature options in your deck to make it run smoother. Makes it more reliable

Really more land ?
I typically use 20 land when my average CC is 3.

Dang I thought I picked quality creatures a well....
any suggestions ?

was goofing around on youtube yesterday and found this guide on how many lands to put in your deck. thought it was interesting. it certainly is going to help me in my deck building.

Interesting, so he suggest 28 for my deck ... (seems a bit excessive IMHO)
but what do I discount for an infinite green mana combo ?

well mana producers each count as half a land. so...

I managed To whittle it down to 26 land....
after limiting all the legendry's to 1 copy and reducing some of the
more mana intensive cards to 1 or 2 copies.

Curiously this also puts my creature count as 26 as well.
also I seem to have an equal amount of artifacts and enchantments.

Much better looking I think. You'll have less problems with drawing too little land and too expensive creatures now.

That, good sir, is savage. I was wondering what you were going for when I saw the Thallid, and then I was chuckling like a proud mad scientist when I saw your artifact selection. A+!!

can you check out my other training grounds deck? I won't post it here since it doesn't fit the deck challenge, but some feedback would be nice.
it is called suspended training.

if not, no problems. this was a fun challenge. :)

In that case, make a deck that uses that combo and post it here. That's the point of this "deck", to get people to share ideas!

That my good sir, is a well put together piece of sexy. I like the usage of crackdown construct. I would suggest a different hydra though. There are many different selections that are much better, such as Mistcutter Hydra, which has the awesome bonus of haste and pro blue. Or you could go with Endless One and bypass the mana requirement entirely, at the cost of protection for the creature. Just my two cents

Your ideas are great, but the emphasis of the deck is abilities. Feral Hydra has a 3 mana ability to give itself a +1/+1 counter which works well with Crackdown. Also, if I combine that with the Bracers it will allow to trigger the ability twice for one mana.

Here you go drakeraenes, my official submission. I actually believe it's very competitive in the modern format. Admittedly not at all budget but that's not really my style.
Hope you enjoy and Happy Casting! :)

Here is a NOT SERIOUS submission please don't count this. Still working on the actual one going to take more time than I have at the moment.
http://www.mtgvault.com/vizardmaster21/decks/gilder-stickapult/

The brick counter thing is very interesting though for another reason. You could actually build a highly bastardized eldrazi titan getter outter thing around this combo. Now wouldn't that be funny.

Okay its finally ready. Land's might need some tweaking.
@drakeraenes this is my actual submission
Here it is Gilder, Saproling reactor:
http://www.mtgvault.com/vizardmaster21/decks/gilder-saproling-reactor/

I also made this. This is not an actual submission unless we are allowed more than one submission of course.
This was more just to try and see about making something very broken than anything.

I like them both. I'm a bit more intrigued with the possibilities in the second one

0

Yea tutor of the vault is less "serious" for sure. It can work but it's probably not going to be as fluid as the saproling deck. It can work though. Basically if it goes off it should do "everything" infinitely more or less.
I am pretty sure now having thought about it I will build a third one that focuses on artifact creatures that use counters like walking ballista.

I've also been toying with a new build myself. But every time a new deck gets shared here it makes me question what I'm doing with my own. It's wonderfully infuriating lol

Got two more decks coming around this concept. It occurred to me that you can make a big rainbow deck by using utopia mycon and cryptolith right (or perhaps just utopia mycon). There is always also gemstone array and astral coronucopia which I have already used but I may try going with just one color production mechanic and seeing how it works. Would give me more slots for the nasty things.

So it will be that and the hangerback+ballista deck.

I've made a more stable deck utilizing nissa as the target for counter adding to get realy big bugs on the table as a competitive build for Modern format. A lot of counter spells as same as drawing/scry and Nissa, Steward of Elements as the key card
