Deck Description

poison

So after much testing at FNM, i decided to switch a few cards and this is the new version of MB and SB. It works pretty nice. Went 3-1.

Deck discussion for UG infect

i would add more creatures. the cards such as lifes finally and the other extraction cards can easily remove both sets of your creatures and leave you defenceless.
please look at my deck. jin 'n' juice http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=193563

I was considering adding Plague myr as an alternative mana ramp as well, or maybe corpse cur but i'll test it out :).

ditch the tumble magnets and 1 necropede for ichorclaw myr.

Any reason why? The necropedes are awesome with dealing with hawks and if i do not get the chance to finish the opponent off in 3-4 turns, the tumble magnet gives me chance to "regroup" until i draw a solution.

well ichorclaw myr is really good when pumped, cuz it either deals a great amount of damage to a player or even more to a creature blocking it.

i'm saying only getting rid of 1 necropede, so u would still have 3.

But u make a good point for the tumble magnets.

Ok , so this deck is going to run into the same trouble that my current standard deck has been running into. You can hope for that turn 2 win, or turn three but to be honest, if the local meta is playing 1 cmc removal/bounce, your going to lose momentum going in for the kill. I often see wasted pump because my opponent brings out a mortar pod or a cunning spark mage and against your deck , you have no other creature to fall back on. CAW blade doesn't mind sacrificing a hawk to use mortar pod against you and some variants at my shop splash red for cunning sparkmage or touching in the exarch combo. Just a heads up, but it might be in your best interest to add a few creatures with toughness greater than 1. To be honest, this kind of a deck(including my current standard deck), peters out against a decent control draw or spot removal decks like vampires, k-red and splash variants of other mainline decks.

I agree with you that the current meta decks like UB control/ mono red and vamps will destroy my deck espcially at game 2/3 if they sideboard well like arc trail/dismember. Even an inquisition will leave my field/hand in a big disadvantage.
Any suggestions on what creatures to put in ? I'm considering sbing noxious or just completely taking it out. I'm leaning on Viridian corrupter since it is really relevant against CAW blade and most decks with stoneforge. And thanks for the feedback :)

viridian corrupter does a nice job of shoring up your weakness to mortar pod and cunning spark mage, but your always going to be vulnerable to low many cost removal due to the nature of infect creatures. To be honest, make them waste mana blowing away your blighted mages and hit them for a couple poison counters and put pressure on. I'd probably say mid-game infect with viral drake and maybe ... maybe even phyrexian swarmlord. I intend on trying the swarmlord myself and pushing my aggro more toward control, atleast for my local meta.

Haha, i was also thinking of putting in the swarmlord. I find it good as a decisive end card if the opponent allows it to resolve. Since in a upkeep, most likely 6-9 insects will spawn @_@.
Another good thing is, most Caw-blade doesnt run Day of Judgement anymore so, yes it could be a very good card to include. But should we put 1 or 2 as we have no means of finding it, so top-decking here becomings quite important.

Well to solve some of the top decking problem , you can include green sun zenith but that entails allowing the game to go long enough to do swarmlord cmc + 1

I ran almost the same deck last week at FNM and went 1-4. Everyone where I play has 1 CMC removal and three people got a spellskite out on turn 2.

For this deck, getting a good hand at the start is very important, especially at game one where you need to really win. I mull till 5 to get a good starting hand.

Then came to game 2/3 is where you tone down your aggro style for a more control style with your sideboard like turn aside and nature's claim to kill the spellskite.

I'm still trying to refine this deck. I might switch vapor snag for either mana leak or spell pierce depending on how it goes. This deck does well against Caw-blade/darkblade or any control style, and 50/50 to aggro decks like mono red/ boros/ br vampires.

apostle's blessing to safeguard your creatures and livewire lash to lash out some additional poison counters. Gintaxias Probe to increase chances for a great opening hand and letting you knw, what yu are up against. Only thing left to account for is mass removal, spell pierce might help.

Tumble Magnet is not needed, since your creatures are either unblockable (apostle, Distortion strike, blighted agent) or blockers can be eliminated with the lashwire while pumping your creature up.
