nice use of the extrapalnar lens. i'd reccomend this though just so you can have more options for attacking http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=220304

wow, just wow.

question though, does the extra mana given by the snow covered swamps due to the bubbleing much, Nirkana Revenant, and the like.

does that count towards the chilling shade's ability since it came from a snow covered swamp?

Uh...Good question...We've just been doing it that way, since it seems right, but yeah it'd be nice to know =/

it looks like Extraplanar lens does as long as you imprint a snow covered swamp onto it because it specifically says that the other land produces an extra mana of the type that the land produces. (if that made any sense LOL)

I posted the other one on the rules forum to see what I get back. when I get something I'll let you guys know.

it doesn't look like all of the extra mana effects work with snow lands. :(

Bubbling Muck doubles Snow, but Revenant doesn't, since for the Revenant, it makes 'Swamps' (name) add another {B}, but the Muck makes 'swamps' (type) add another {B} (Urborg anyone?)

And Revenant....kinda sexy, just throwin it out there =P

just been looking and revenant states when a swamp is tapped for mana a snow covered land reads snow covered as a name but swamp as a type so im sure it gets doubled with the nikarna

Fluffstar: you are most correct about the extra mana being produced.

The question is if you can pump chilling shade with the extra mana produced. "(S) can be paid with one mana from a snow permannent."

with that being said, Extraplanar lens and Bubbling muck make the land produce an extra mana, since the mana is coming from the land it can be used to activate Chilling Shades pump effect.

Nirkana Revenant on the other hand just adds a black mana to your mana pool when you tap a swamp but this extra mana isn't coming from the land itself just being added to the mana pool from her effect. so this extra mana wouldn't be able to be used to pump chilling shade.

or at least that's what I've put together ot of looking around and reading the cards. But as always rules are just more like guidelines anyway. My group wouldn't care where the mana came from or if it was snow covered or not. we would still let you pump the crap out of the chilling shade. :)

Keep up the great work Wumpus, looking forward to seen some new decks from you and Sure and everyone else for that matter. :)

I've always been interested in making a shade deck myself, but never really got around to it. As a black mana favouring planeswalker, I salute this beauty!

Also, why the Urborgs? I don't see any significant benefit to using them. The Cabal Coffers can be tapped for black, but am I missing something in the mechanics?

Man, that deck looks crazy awesome. I'd sure as hell be scared to be on the receiving end.

On a slightly unrelated note, have you ever considered doing a stompy deck for Modern? Stompy is my favorite archetype and Modern my favorite format, but it's really hard to find any examples of Stompy in it.
