Deck Description

Death to the living!

I ran this deck for a very long on a lot of different kitchen tables. It's a lot of fun and has a lot of great interaction with the board.

A dark curse has awaken and it has a hunger for living flesh! Zombies shamble out of their shallow graves spreading disease and decay wherever they go. Hideous horrors from your nightmares stalk your every move and vampire wizards work sadistic black magic behind the scenes.

And beware the evil jinxed idol that drains the life of all those who hold it! Can you survive the Army of Darkness?

How to Play

Where do I start? Sac your zombies to carrion feeder or viscera seer to either beat face or smooth draws. Festering goblin and fume spitter can either pick off early drops or remove the +1/+1 counters from your geralfs messenger for extra undying.

Reassembling skeleton is raw utility here. He fills a lot of roles.

We also have a lot of disruption and field control with spells like smallpox, innocent blood and grave pact.

Flesh allergy can win games if you set it up just right.

Jinxed Idol is a spicy little hot potato here and in multiplayer matches hops all over the place.

Geralf's Messenger and Gravecrawler are your big win cons here, with lots of outlets to maximize their use.

Its not going to win a modern tournament, but its always brought a smile to my face whenever I play it. :)

I agree. Somehow he is a card that I've never stumbled across for trade and always seems to slip my mind.

you may want to consider adding either ob nixilis, the fallen, or ob nixilis, unchackled, to decrease your opponents life total.

Demons that I have considered adding are abyssal persecutor and that four drop demon from gatecrash whose name suddenly escapes me. You know.... the guy who triggers at the beginning of every combat, your opponent may sac and tap him.

I feel like those two could fit the ticket pretty well. I could always just sac the persecutor when I win, and the other demon just sacs all day. I feel like ob nixillis is too expensive for this deck. I have a relatively small mana base as it is and I run two smallpox mb. He would probably just sit in my hand most of the time, and when I would get to play him probably just be a win more type card.

That's just mean.

... but I like the way you think

As I was about ready to fall asleep I had a terrible thought.

Does Athreos override undying? Would I be stuck paying bbb for messengers to etb all game? Or does he undie before Athreos' ability? Is it one of those situations where I get to place them on the stack however I choose?

I'm too tired for this, lol

Bloodghast, mortician beetle, slitherhead and demonic appetitite are good additions and maybe a cavern of souls for zombies

Looking great! I thought that maybe you should add more Reassembling Skeletons, but I am not too sure about it.
I do like it though. Pretty mean package and not too expensive either.

In the first stages of brewing I often went with four skeletons and found myself only ever playing and utilizing one while the others sat in my hand. After much fine tuning I've come to feel that 1-2 is the sweet spot. Thank you for taking a look!
