Main Deck (60 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

There are 2 major combos, either one will win you the game.

Time vault and voltaic key gives you infinite turns (enough to draw till the win condition, remove opponent's abil to respond, then field the win condition).

Painter's servant and grindstone is the big win condition.

The synergy here is that grindstone and voltaic key are both 1-drops, so they can be fetched with trinket mage as well as whir of invention very easily. The rest of the deck just says "no" and draws, so you shouldn't have much trouble staying alive long enough to get the job done. An alt win condition is creeping tar pit, or if they dismantle a combo you can timetwist it back into the deck and go for it again.

Deck discussion for Vintage Artifact Combo

Since your instant speed plays are either one mana or free, is there an incentive to keeping up mana for whir of invention (besides hard casting force)? Trinket mage searches everything in the mainboard, provides a body, and is easier on the mana (it can also be cast effectively off sol ring and non-blue moxen). I would recommend four, replacing the two whirs. Maybe whir is there for searching SB artifacts, or maybe comboing off at instant speed is important? Is it because the fetched artifact with trinket mage can be countered by mental misstep? Feel free to clue me in, i'm a complete newb at this format :)

Unfortunately trinket mage only grabs 1-drops or lower, so it will fetch all the moxes and 2 of the combo pieces, but not painter's servant or time vault.

The instant speed of whir of invention is also very preferable, as I want to get the combo out when opponent is least prepared. Vintage is a stupid fast format, hence the majority of the deck is a 1-drop or external condition. I wouldn't cast trinket mage when I had just 3 mana available even if I had the other combo piece ready because opponent will either have a counter ready for it or will have his plan pop off if my lands are tapped out.

Ah, forgot that painter's servant is an artifact. Thanks for clearing that up!

This deck looks fun to play, except for the $25k value lol.

No one should actually be able to play with decks like this. I'm glad wizards created the format vintage so these cards couldn't be used in other formats, but the only way to be competitive in vintage is to have enough available cash not to care that you are effectively buying a new car for 60 pieces of paper.

Fun to theorize about though.
