BOGO- buy one, get oneThe theory of this deck, and the architype in general (which I'm working on expanding), is that running synergy mechanics/cards that give you 1.1 vs 1.0 advantage and/or tempo wins under more scenarios than it loses simply based on the statistical edge and the concept of inevitability. This build works off the following mechanic:This is a generic burn deck, the kind that has run in modern for over a decade. However, it is augmented with Heartflame Duelist and Bonecrusher Giant, the 8 BOGO cards that net extraneous material. The rational is as follows:Heartflame Duelist: extra, though far from efficient, damage means you get a 'free' bolt to opponent's face at the cost of some tempo. The Duelist itself gives you Lifelink on your burn spells, which adds an entirely new dimension to the burn mechanic. Burn plays against a clock more than any deck besides a pure combo build that's trying to race rather than maintain control before execution. Giving your spells Lifelink extends that clock, which ostensibly gives you more damage to throw at opponent's face. Win/win for you, and the 3/1 damage clock isn't terrible on its own either if the field is empty. Duelist also offsets the bleeding from Eidolon, which means opponent is suddenly anemic, and you've got platelets for days.Bonecrusher Giant: extra, acceptably efficient damage, particularly because the two-drop instant comes before the three-drop Giant. So turn 2 Shock to the face, turn 3 fatty with more burn potential. 4/3 is an excellent damage clock, albeit not immune to bolts and the like, but also harder to Fatal Push and Prismatic Ending, etc. And the best part is, if opponent doesn't have a critter to deal with it, you get a free Shock off the removal spell, netting you +4 damage and +1 material in exchange for a little tempo. That's what burn does under optimal circumstances right there.Everything else is burn the way burn has been played for almost all of magic. Convert both tempo and material into direct damage and field a damage clock on top of that when you can.Feedback appreciated
