Beginner friendly budget build playing around with food mechanics.Food is a fun little thing that never really caught on that nevertheless has teaching potential for how synergy works. This build pumps out fast critters and food tokens and gets rewarded for doing so across the board, particularly through Cranial Plating that turns your little fellas into juggernauts on the cheap. The curve is very low, as this deck wants available mana to sac food if necessary, or for extraneous activated abilities while still fielding a card for the turn. Sometimes it's better to build up the food, sometimes you want to systematically sac it off (with Trail of Crumbs for example), but either way, you want the mana to keep building, so the low curve greatly helps with that. Seeing Witch's Oven without Cauldron Familiar is just wild to me after the combo terrorized me in standard or historic or whatever it was that I played before Arena retaught me that not all that glitters is gold.

It is indeed a daunting combo for how cheap and available it is. I wanted to stay away from it for the beginner-friendly version though, both because it technically costs more than I'm allowing for the budget (cards under a buck to keep the whole build around 20 bucks), and because it's so self-contained and in-game cheap that it doesn't really teach anything beyond 'wow, there are 2 card combos that are silly broken'.
I can see that, but I would counter that it teaches important lessons about timing; bringing the cat back at end of turn, playing around potential graveyard hate. And also potentially about chump blocking or playing to win vs playing not to lose. On the other hand, it is something that if included in a deck almost forces it to lean more aristocrats and would thus likely necessitate a lot of other card changes in this build.
That's all fair. My mind went right to Insidious Roots and all the drainocrats.
