As a returning MtG player (originally from the pre-Mirage period), I was disappointed when the 2010 rules eliminated mana burn. Power Surge was one of my favourites back in the day. This deck makes Power Surge relevant again by pairing it with Manabarbs for a catch-22 burn setup.
For your own protection, mulligan until you have one each Personal Sanctuary and Plains in hand. Then play things as they come: Enchantments and Ankh to put your opponents in a damned-if-they-do, damned-if-they-don't predicament; direct damage instants, Goblin Arsonist and Magma Phoenix to pick off opponents' creatures; and Z'orb, Fury Shield for self-preservation.In a multiplayer situation, if you can make it until turn 6 or 7--assuming no one figures out what you're up to and picks you off early--this deck will usually make you the most hated person at the table as players are forced to think hard about what cards they play and whether it's worth the burn.
