Uses life gain and semi-powerful creatures to boost my own life, while still able to defend it. In one extreme instance of life gain, I had over 4 million life. In another game, I went from 20 life to 3, then gained over 30. Then next turn I went from around 30 to 2, then gained around 40, then went from that to 1, and gained 63 to put me at 64, and won with Felidar Soverign. In the normal game, however, I consistently get to over 100 life. **NEW** This deck recently underwent a few minor revisions, if you'd like to see the original, here's the link: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=158445 This is the deck I spend most of my time playing and testing against, and I'm proud to say that it's made it to the homepage! It keeps getting better and better with every revision! http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=138651

alright this deck looks like a pretty solid Life-gain but i think it could defiantly improve if you cut it down a bit.If your main goal is to gain life though, i think you should take out some of the prevention stuff like holy day and safe passage, i mean after all if you are gaining life anyway... Also, because Soul warden and soul's attendant are the same card pretty much, you could take out two of either make the other 4, but it doesn't actually matter haha. After that i think you could just take a serious look at it on your own and really think about whats helping you and what is not; then adjust accordingly. Hope it helps (:

That helped tremendously! I see what you mean, focus on gain instead of prevention. After all, The less cards in the way of getting life, the more life to get. I got 3 more celestial mantles tonight, and am going to throw those in, and take safe passage/holy day out.
THIS is the deck which killed off my Midnight Sun... but wait until I finish it up with that Cradle of Vitality and three more Nip Gwyllions.
We shall see, young padawon. We shall see.
Gimme half a month, and I promise it'll be somewhat more difficult for you to stay at 4,000,000 life again.
Lol, maybe, but I'd honestly be shocked if I ever got up to 4 million again. That was just crazy!
Thanks for your ringing endorsement of my deck. It's only beaten yours once, that I remember. I credit your years more experience than mine, the efficiency of mono decks, and this one in particular. Honestly, great design here. Be proud- you're the reason I don't feel safe without Eldrazi around.
I wanna see your friend Sam and test this out on his deck. Can't wait until you get your version of his deck done.
Liking the looks of this deck, the only question is one of consistency, but it doesn't seem that this will be a problem.
Also, another question, How is the mana curve? Like, are you getting too few mana per other cards, or does it seem to be pretty well spread out?
The mana curve is fine, I usually end up with just the right amout to do anything I need to, very rarely do I end up with to much/ to few.
Something I've noticed and would like some feedback on: 1 and 2 of's. Any idea's on whether it looks okay, or should I think about swapping out cards for other cards to keep a higher 3 or 4 of ratio?
Right after I posted this, I found out about a card that I'm unsure of how I missed. It's called arrest, and I assume you all know of it. It would effectively replace Pacifism, and although it costs a more, the second part of the effect makes it completely worth it.
Oblivion Ring > Arrest > Pacifism Oblivion Ring can target any permanent and remove it from the game. If the Ring gets destroyed they get their permanent back and can use it again, but that's also true of Arrest and Pacifism.
Really, Serra Ascendant would just be obscenely powerful in your deck. The way you gain life, it would be a 6/6 Flying Lifelink for 1 all the time.
4 million?
Yes, four million. I was the poor sucker sitting across the table from that. If events hadn't led to the match ending early, he'd have gone a lot higher than that in the next turn. Take it from me: this deck is fairly fast, highly efficient, and absurdly potent once it really gets going.
I'm glad you think so :D You still probably would have came out on top, but that would have made for a LONG game. It's fairly quick to begin with, but once it really gets going and I get my big guns out, I'm proud to say that it's fairly unstoppable...Except for infect. Frackin' infect.
Now, I'll finally say it: Quietus Spike.
what combo did you use to get to 4 million? it is impossible that you got that high through normal life gain, and i can't seem to find any combos that would lead to that high of a life total...
Celestial Mantle's
Yeah, 4 million is about 2^22, so twenty-two successful triggers of Celestial Mantle would take someone from practically no life to 4 million. "Double X" repeated just ten times means "multiply X by 1,024." Exponentials grow crazy fast.
was the other guy also gaining life? because to get to 4 million with celestial mantle you would have to do almost 90 damage to him without him dying, if the celestial mantle was equipped to a 1/1
I have two words for you: Poison Counters.
And I have two words for you: Broken Mechanic.
If you actually took the time to read the comments also, you'd see I already pointed out that Infect will be the demise of this deck.
@bunzato As much as you might dislike poison, it's still out there and since it's out there people will use it. I would suggest sideboarding damage prevention against infect.
I would definitely run Journey to Nowhere over Arrest. Same basic idea, but only costs 2 mana.
I've considered that, but it seems more fun, to me anyway, to let the opponent sit there and go "Damn, this card is still in play but I cant use it"
TO MANY POWERFUL CARDS
The "powerful cards" are what makes this deck able to win, instead of simply stalling with an obscene amount of life.
I don't really see the purpose of platinum angel other than not losing to poison.
Platinum Angel really has no purpose, except it's one of my favorite cards, and in other decks that I had Platinum Angel in, I've come back from less than 0 life to win the game. It's more or less in there simply because I like the card.
Looks like fun! I would pitch the Armored Ascensions and Oust, maybe throw in a couple Path to Exile instead. This isn't the kind of deck you want to tweak for tournament play, so it's better to think about what makes the deck more fun. You could always just Path a pesky Infect creature or two. And playing a Path on one of your own creatures to get your seventh Plains so you can start recovering a creature from the graveyard each turn would be hilarious.
Ancestor's Chosen might be a good card for this deck

Nice deck, I have a similar one, care to check it out: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=160308 I think mine may have a few cards to inspire you (it's 60 cards, and uses cards that are playable in standard and extended too). Have you considered ajani's pridemate? they can get pretty huge if you play a deck like this, also, wurm's tooth and golem's heart are good side board cards. Also I wouldn't be afraid to play more kabira crossroads, and some graypelt refuge too :) Anyway, hope you can find the time to check out my deck too.
Check out my Weasel-Stomping Day deck. (Yeah, really. It's not bad either, but advice is always welcome.) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=165841
Very nice, I made a slightly different life gain deck that I've been having some success with in my small play group. Any advice or suggestions would rock: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=142377
