I'd suggest somehow making some room with boggart shenanigans. Also, my buddy and I pulled a sick play in double headed with britestone rituals, goblin king, a goblin who gave all ours haste and empty the warrens to end up with 15 or so 2/1 goblins with haste and mountainwalk (opposing team had mountains). It was absolutely sickening and I laughed for minutes.
I enjoy your choice of cards as well as your opinion. 10
With the blade of the bloodchief added this becomes an awesome 3 card combo. I like it a lot.
Interesting idea, sadly there is a plethora of cards with the exact words "Destroy all enchantments."
I was actually thinking of leech bonder from the same set, but either would work if you used artifact creatures obviously. Just put the phylactery counter on an artifact creature, move it to your lich, then he's nearly irremovable beyond sacrifice, exile, and mass -1/-1.
Hilarious deck. I love it.
This is ridiculous and amazing. A full 10 for creativity!
Well Maelstrom Pulse is a good deterrent, but still with only one in the entire deck your chances of drawing it in any particular game are slim. With 2 your chances increase dramatically and even should you draw the second one nothings forcing you to place a counter on it like the first. That way even if they pulse the sword and both die you wont lose two counters. The single smother still doesn't seem to have a purpose as well. As for the card that moves counters, I can't recall the name. I'll have to look around though it might be difficult to find. Come to think of it I doubt that card is standard, though this deck won't be for too much longer anyways.
Seems solid, though I don't see the point for the single smother instead of just adding a 3rd doom blade. A solitary sword of vengeance is also odd as one of 60 cards is hardly a reliable draw. I would suggest having at least 2 as it's an amazing card. I also just thought of a cool idea of moving the phylactery counter from the phylactery lich to himself via an ability from another card to keep him from being killed by anything but exile or mass -1/-1.
I can't say I have too many to be honest, being rather new to modern magic, but if I come by any inexpensive ideas I'll be sure to shoot it your way immediately.
Not much different from the other one, but there's really not much you could change to this sort of deck could you? I really like the concept and there are 2 realistic win conditions and, though they conflict with each other a small bit, they are both achievable and rather quick. It seems as if even given just a mediocre hand you could still easily win by turn 6 or 7 provided your spells aren't all just countered (which would blow). I say an 8 for playability, 9 for execution of concept. Sorry I didn't have much to say about improving it.
Yeah, well there are definitely improvements to be made to it, but I'm also sure I'd end up with a few spare cards I could sub in after some booster drafts and buying the odd booster now and then. :) By the way I really like the deck, I hadn't made that clear before. It's an awesome concept that I think you pulled together very well.
Isn't that strategy pretty much called Red Deck Wins?
I'd put another Emrakul or 3 into the deck to make sure there's one to poly into. Nothing would suck more than draw poly and both of your two creatures, though on second thought I suppose you could mulligan, but I'd avoid that if as all possible.
It's really just the bloodghast and lavaclaw reaches making it any more expensive it seem. I'm contemplating buying the cards to make the less expensive version so I can get into standard and play a little locally. It actually only costs about $11 incl. shipping without sideboard.
Wow. Well I really like this to be honest and might consider something similar if 4 baneslayers didn't run me over $100. HAH! The price for a few select cards is ridiculous.
Thank you very much. I was never trying to be too competitive, just trying my hand out as a rather new player. If you have any general tips or advice on standard deck building it's heartily welcomed. :)
Apparently people think it's crap, but instead of give constructive criticism they just rate it a 2 and move on. Awesome. Thanks to those few that did help.
I just recently saw the merits of putrid leech actually so I'll probably put that in there. I'm still a newer player so any advice is welcome, and jund charm isn't to bad for a budget card I would say. If I wasn't designing this around a budget I'd definitely have broodmate dragon in there somewhere.
