Deck discussion for Modern Mill

A few things. I love mill, especially in modern with Archive Trap and fetches. Unfortunately, your going pure mill with a Surgical Extraction. Going pure mill is meh, but what's really the point of exiling a few things unless it's combo decks? At that point it should be a sideboard if anything. I'd replace them with Thoughtscour. Never underestimate the power of "draw a card".

Personally, I'd rather run control with a subtheme of mill as a wincon. Lists like these have no way to protect themselves who stabilize the board, which is why I dislike them.

On top of those points, you only have 58 cards. You may also want to look into the card Nephalia Drownyard. It can mill 3 every turn if you run out of steam.

He also has haunting echoes, which hits everything in the graveyard save basic lands. Combo deck or not, that can really screw someone a good portion of their deck suddenly vanishes. That and the fact that this is mill makes it even more dangerous because it puts them as step closer to decking out.

On a different note, have you considered breaking // entering? It's like glimpse only for eight cards, not ten

Thanks for the advice. I haven't played modern before, but I enjoy building decks that are different than the meta and the blue/black combo has been a favorite of mine. Modern is a format that i want to get into, but I don't have hundreds to blow on cards so I figured I'd make something different.

In response to the posts, I agree with the of placing Surgical Extraction in the side board and after looking into Nephalia Drownyard, I think I would rather use a Curse of the Bloody Tome. Though it only mills 2 per turn, I don't have to pay mana toward it, but I see what your saying; if i have run out of steam I can all ways mill for 3.

And I totally forgot about Breaking//Entering, I actually have the card. Probably a 2 of.

Also how fast pace is modern? I know it depends on the deck, but I'm told the stereotype modern game is usually done turn 5-6...
