Deck discussion for W/B Tokens

Really like this, used to run something similar but with Skirsdag to make Demon's all over the place from my tokens dying. And if they wouldn't die I'd use Disciple of Griselbrand

Thanks! I just finished building this. Have any idea's on what I could do to make it better?

Try using guardians pledge, kinda like a little overrun for your tokens, especially since most of them have flying =] good deck

Well, this is a standard deck, and I don't think Guardian's pledge is standard. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I was thinking righteous charge, haha the standard version =p look into that

Ah. I know what your talking about. I considered it, but with the intangible Virtue and the Vault of the Archangel, I don't think I need another buff in here. THanks though!

I love the idea man, looks great. With the fact that quite a few builds now are Aggro I might suggest Blind Obedience for either the side or main board, get some extortion in there as well as slow your opponents down. I would however cut Increasing Devotion down to 2 as it is a more expensive card and run 2 Skirsdag High Priest as he does make a decent amount of 5/5 fliers. You might also want some more removal in the deck rather than just the Oblivion Rings. Devour Flesh, Tragic Slip, Murder, Ultimate Price are all good.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll main board 2 Obedience's, and I have Bone splinters on the side board for added removal. I'll put in the 2 high priests as well. Thanks for the suggestions!

No problem man, best of luck to you with the deck.

Another suggestion could be Cartel Aristocrat, pretty decent with Blood Artist, also Killing Wave might be decent for an end game if you have a bunch of tokens. Killing Wave for 5, have (insert life total or more creatures) and sac them all with Blood Artist out... win game.

Well, now my next step is to go out and start buying these cards, so I can enter it in the event nearby. XD

Have you proxied any of these cards yet against a deck you currently own? Just wanted to know how effective Vault of the Archangel is for you...or skirsdag highpriest. I think 4 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad is pretty excessive since you can only have one out at a time anyways, 2 should be a better number. Maybe add some more Removal Spells.

I proxied this build yesterday, and I found that the four sorins was a good idea. there was a lot of Removal played, things like dread bore, and such. I managed to use his ultimate once, sometimes even twice in each game, and it saved my butt. The Vault ends up acting like my removal, allowing my spirit tokens to kill anything that tries to block them, or becomes blocked by them. And the high priest has served me well, when I need to switch out something to deal with heavy fliers the next round.

Very nice, maybe you can check out my spirit token reanimator deck, its one of my favorite creations but didn't get as much attention here as I would've liked: http://www.mtgvault.com/cruncher/decks/spirited-away/

My primary suggestion is one borne of experience. You need a sacrifice engine in a deck like this. With cards like detention sphere and sever the bloodline running about, being able to eliminate the target at instant speed is crucial. Cards like those are literally the bane of token decks. I'd recommend Cartel Aristocrat. The sacrifice engine also sets off Skirsdag Highpriest's trigger which allows you to pump out demons like a champ.

Alright. I'll trade out a sorin, blood artist, and o ring for Cartel.

Cartel Aristocrat makes the deck really versatile against control also. You can sac anything to keep her on the board, and she's often the card your opponent is trying to get rid of.

Also, if you go tri-color you can run gavony township.

I started tricolor, but I don't want to end up breaking my wallet when I start to actually build this deck.

Ghost council for a non token late beater. He actually plays really, really well in this deck some how.

ok very well then if it works then keep going lol how is blind obiedence doing?

Great. It keeps those pesky, Overpowered boros decks, and other token decks down for a few turns, and I get a nice exhort every once in a while if I have the extra mana.

oh i just noticed onemore thing try to put skirsdag in main deck he is really good

1

I actually like him on my sideboard, as I switch him out with my blind obedience if I need to. I like to be a bit safe in terms of maybe facing a Boros deck. the few times he was in my main deck at the start, I got beat with out being able to build up the momentum that this deck needs. Obiedence lets me get the breathing room that I need.

How would Geralf's Messenger fare in this deck? Saccing him the turn you play him is quite potent. He could be an alternative to Obzedat as he's faster and disposable, or maybe something else can be replaced by him.
But the deck is getting better and better, nice work!

1

Hm.. Thats a good point. I hadn't really considered Geralf. THe thing I don't like about him in this deck though is that he has a triple black cost. I know its not an issue when I use the shocklands, so I might try him out when build the real deck. Thanks for the suggestion! Glad you like this deck!

I'm still trying to figure out why oblivion ring is such a popular card. It's good, but it doesn't seem like it would work well in every deck. How has it played in this deck so far?

Surpisingly well. O-ring is popular because you get to exile NON-LAND permanent, so it has a great utility.
