The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

My entry into tevish_tzat's challenge "Modern Vamps!" ( http://forums.mtgvault.com/showthread.php?t=6193 ) I've never made or played with a Vamp deck before, so I'm designing based on experience of what I have faced. Blade of the Bloodchief on any Vamp + creatures dying = Awesomeness. Guul Draz Vampire and Pulse Tracker, though commons, are very good Vamps (imo). Vampire's Bite makes for a nice pump spell. It's dificult to keep a Bloodghast down, especially at the low mana curve of this deck :) Gatekeeper of Malakir is a 'you lose a creature, I gain a creature' card. Captivating Vampire because all tribal decks need at least one 'Lord'. I thought of using Go for the Throught and / or Doomblade, but Geth's Verdict seems more 'evil' to me :p Verdant Catacombs helps for deck thinning help get to nonland cards.

I like the deck overall but the challenge said it wanted a mix of Innistrad and Zendikar vampires, but you don't have any Innistrad vampires.

I didn't?? Interesting. I just used Gatherer to get a list of all Modern legal Vamps and built a deck using those, I didn't look at what sets the vamps came from. Sorry about that :p
sideboard the hexmages and throw in some bloodline keepers and you would fix your problem. also make your deck better. and go for the throat and doom blade would probably be the way to go since you already have gatekeeper to make them sacrifice.
Mana cost of Bloodline Keeper is not to my liking. When I make tribal, I like to keep the mana costs 2 or less with minimal 3 costs (mostly for lords).
Not bad. You definitely need to add some doom blade. Take a look at my vampire deck and let me know your thoughts. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=215704
With such a low mana curve, I feel I won't need much creature removal. I've already got Geth's Verdict and Gatekeeper of Malakir. If I where to use a targeted removal spell, I'd probably replace my Geth's Verdicts with Dismembers :p
again, ded, you wreck all of our decks in the challenges. you again have one of the best budget vampire decks i have seen. You don't even play vamps, and you know the tempo well. one thing though, vampires can cope with having 4CMC or higher cards, if you splash red for burn, or green for land ramp. Bloodline keeper would help this deck as is though.
Tempo? What's that? (Just joking :p ) All I did was apply my general patter for building an agro deck. The only thing I haven't done is the final part of my deckbuilding method, playtesting (I don't have the cards to test this)
I have most of these, and i playtest on cockatrice. I Have the ability to test this deck, ill get back to you on it.
