Deck Description

Current state of my Korlash inspired mono black land ramp deck.

How to Play

Wayfarer's Bauble is the best turn one play. Sacrifice it on turn two to be able to play Korlash on turn three so that you can start using his Grandeur ability to fish out more Swamps.

While playing Dimir House Guard and equipping it with Lashwrithe is a good play (the skeleton has fear), it's in here to fetch A Korlash to Grandeur; Mutilate to kill everything; or Lashwrithe.

Ghoulcaller's Chant is awesome as you can return 2x Korlash from the graveyard to Grandeur twice. But it is also useful for retuning the House Guard or Nighthawk (Bloodghast returns itself)

Lashwrithe is a big hitter in here. On its own, with the germ that comes with it, it's a huge creature. But once equipped to another creature, you can Mutilate to kill everything except what's equipped, great for keeping Korlash or Nighthawk alive when you really need to Mutilate.

Wanderer's Twig is a new addition to the deck that I haven't tested yet. One of the problems I've had is that in games where I don't get the Bauble, I tend to lose. While Bauble is the only artifact that puts the land onto the battlefield once activated, Twig at least activates for very cheap.

Surprisingly strong too. I've beaten a few tournament decks with it :p

Maybe Absorb Vis could work if you don't like the Twig

The landcycling is a great idea, though Twisted Abomination might be a better option for that. It's a big creature for IF you ever play the actual card, which can happen in some games; and because it is a creature, Ghoulcaller's Chant can be used to return it to be cycled again. Sadly I don't have any, so the Twig will have to do for now.

Nice! Korlash is great, I'm thinking about building something with it as well.
Check out Liliana of the Dark Realms, could help with Swamps and also buff your creatures (Vampire Nighthawk!) or kill your opponents'.
Also, Nightmare Incursion might intrigue you, maybe as a sideboard card...

Cheers!

I have considered Liliana of the Dark Realms before, but here's why I didn't include her:
Her [+1] puts the Swamp in hand, not onto the battlefield. I need the Swamps in play asap.
The [-3] only affects one creature for one turn. The -X/-X is nice as it should kill most things, but at 4 mana, I'd rather use Tendrils of Corruption for the life gain. Lashwrithe covers the +X/+X and grants the boost permanently.
The extra mana from the [-6] is completely useless as my cards care about number of Swamps on the battlefield, not mana.

I had considered Nightmare Incursion too., but at 6 mana, it's surprisingly expensive as it eats into me being able to play two or more cards a turn mid game. There's a reason I only run one Corrupt.
