Deck Description

Trying to help a local player construct a Werewolf deck

How to Play

Like most tribal decks, you want early pressure and Lord effects.

Early game is covered by Kessig Prowler (don't underestimate a turn one 2/1) and Village Messenger.

There's a ton of Lord effects. The cheapest being Mayor of Avabruck. Immerwolf is excellent because it keeps the werewolves on their best side, and combing that with Vildin-Pack Alpha (Geier Reach Bandit), all the werewolves, including Kessig Prowler, will alway be on their awesome side.

The noncreature spells are all instants (or have flash). This is to help with the werewolves' own transform ability. Don't cast anything your turn, they transform in the opponent's turn and you can still play spells.

Deck discussion for Howling at the Moon

Even with 23 lands, this deck looks pretty 3-drop heavy. You're going to see a lot of games where you get choked in the opening and don't develop a boardstate quickly enough to get the job done, at least from my point of view

Ye, the curve does concern me. But there wasn't many 2 mana wolves or werewolves that fit my vision for the deck. Though I can see Duskwatch Recruiter taking Breakneck Rider spot (and maybe dropping Kruin Outlaw for the 4th Recruiter).

Lambholt Pacifist may be worth considering too...

Maybe some of the 1-drop greed tactics cards? Commune with nature or adventurous impulse?

On an unrelated note, I love kessig prowler in general. It does pretty much exactly what agro decks want. Turn 1 threat that starts the clock, but isn't a dead topdeck

Kessig Prowler, like most 1 mana 2/1's, is VERY aggro. It was a consideration for my Wilt-Leraf Liege deck, but Dryad Militant being both colours beat it out. But with it being a werewolf, it was very on theme here.

I had to read Vildin-Pack Alpha (Geier Reach Bandit) ability twice before including Prowler. The Alpha makes a top decked Prowler a 1 man 4/4, which is just insane.

As for the 'draw' cards, outside of combo decks where they help assemble pieces, I've not been impressed by them. I also wanted the noncreatures to be instant speed, allowing for the ability to pass the turn to force a transform and still have something playable during the opponent's turn. Howlpack Resurgence being an instant speed lord effect helps a lot with this plan.
