Deck Description

Elf ramp + draw combo to get lot of mana for a (hopefully) lethal Banefire.

*12 February 2019 Update:
After much reading (comments and other similar decks), and some goldfishing, I decided to make some changes to the original plan:

Mainboard:
-3 Growing Rites of Itlimoc: Wasn't working as well as I'd hoped.
-1 Marwyn, the Nurturer: Being legendary is a big limitation.
-1 Banefire: Doesn't do much until I have a lot of mana.
-1 Vanquisher's Banner: Needed space for the 4th Rhythm.
-1 Mountain: 8 duals and 2 Mountains should be more than enough red for 6 cards.
+4 Rhythm of the Wild: Guess I found a way to get them mainboard :D
+1 Steel Leaf Champion: Good card is good.
+2 Forest: 20 lands is better than 19.

Sideboard:
-2 Diamond Mare: Was originally in for the burn matchup, but I don't feel it's necessary.
-3 Plummet: It's a toss-up between this and the Harpooner.
-2 Sentinel Totem: No real graveyard strategies I need to worry about at the moment.
-3 Rhythm of the Wild: Moved Mainboard :D
+3 Kraul Harpooner: While Plummet is an instant, this is a body on the board.
+1 Banefire: I want a 3rd for the control matchup.
+2 Cindervines: Double duty vs spell heavy decks and must kill enchantments.
+4 Lightning Strike: This should be Lava Coil, but I currently don't own any.

How to Play

Combo: Play Elves to draw cards and get lots of mana, then Banefire the opponent's face.

Llanowar Elves and Incubation Druid pull double duty here. In addition to ramp, their mana helps keep the combo going.

Beast Whisperer and Vanquisher's Banner draw cards each time you play an elf.

Playing multiple Elves grows Marwyn, which helps ramp into a big Banefire.

Rhythm of the Wild gives haste or a +1/+1 counter. Haste on mana dorks is great, and Marwyn, Incubation Druid, and Growth-Chamber Guardian get better with free +1/+1 counters.

Deck discussion for ElfBane (Standard)

Love it, this deck looks insane!

but also, shouldn't rhythm of the wild just be in the main deck? It works so well with incubation druid and growth-chamber guardian, negates the need to adapt them for their abilities to trigger?

The problem with moving Rhythm mainboard is space. The more non-elf cards I have mainboard, the less Elves I have to trigger Vanquisher's Banner and Beast Whisperer.

I shall do some testing at FNM this weekend and I may tweak the list afterwards.

TBH it looks like banefire is a last ditch kill cause with all the elf cards you're just going to have a giant board to kill your opponent with rather than using banefire.

Banefire opens up an alternative option for a win. Just 1 example: The Nexus Fog deck can Fog an attack, but can do nothing to a Banefire.
Having a mainboard option B is a good thing.
