Deck Description

An idea based around Hokori, Dust Drinker limiting the number of lands that get untapped.

The sideboard contains other cards I considered / am considering. Suppression Field will hurt Planeswalkers especially, so it's definitely guaranteed at least 2 slots in the final sideboard.

Suggestions on a potential win condition and / or other cards that combo with Dust Drinker's ability are welcome.

How to Play

Hokori, Dust Drinker limits untapping of lands to one per upkeep. Paradox Haze gives me extra upkeeps, so I can untap more lands a turn. Azorius Signet and Azorius Chancery help here too.

Grand Arbiter Augustine makes my blue and white spells cost {1} less, while maki all the opponent's spells cost {1} more. This helps a lot with Dust Drinker's ability.

Ghostly Prison puts a mana tax on the opponent attacking. Combo'd with Dust Drinker's ability, the opponent won't be attacking all that often.

Orb of Dreams boosts Dust Drinker's ability further. Harbinger of the Tides benefits from this too.

Deck discussion for Dust Drinker's Tax (Help)

yo what all do you need help with? Also, could i maybe re- construct this deck to maybe increase the effectiveness with a splash of either red, or make it into a RUWB deck that can eliminate their deck?

Was thinking more along the lines of a lockdown style. Maybe something that benefits from the multiple upkeeps Paradox Haze gives? If red, I can see Honden of Infinite Rage gaining from the Paradox Haze upkeeps. Possibly Honden of Cleansing Fire too?

Considering you only have 1 card with an upkeep trigger and it is legendary, paradox haze may not be optimal. Since you are running blue, maybe run some of the spells that untap lands when resolved like rewind to piss of your opponents and untap. The curve is also a little slow for modern with no 1 drops and 2 drops that either aren't useful on their own or want to be cast later then turn 2. Maybe put in stuff like spell piece mana leak or remand to hold of your opponent until you reach your dust drinker or Augustine
