So, I just put in an order for what I don't own in my Ponza deck, allowing me to return all that I loaned. In addition to the "missing" Ponza cards, I ordered a few cards for my next project: a Dragon based Skred deck. Sadly, I couldn't afford to get Koth and Chandra, Torch of Defiance at the moment as the Ponza cards take priority, but I did at least get the Dragons, allowing me to start with this sub optimal Skred Red deck. My Ponza deck:http://www.mtgvault.com/dedwards/decks/ponza-mana-denied/
Main idea is to drop one or more Dragons, or a Planeswalker, asap while keeping the opponent board relatively empty by burning anything he / she plays. To help get the threats out asap I have 5 two mana artifacts that add mana:> Mind Stone: This may only add colourless, but it has the up side of being able to use the mana right away and drawing a card when the mana isn't needed anymore. > Coldsteel Heart: Much worse than Mind Stone as it enters tapped and doesn't draw a card, but it's +1 snow permanent for Skred and can be drawn off Scrying Sheets. The burn:> Lightning Bolt: The best 1 mana burn spell ever. Instant 4 of. > Skred: The deck's name sake card, and the reason to run all the Snow lands. Nukes almost any creature in the mid to late plays. > Anger of the Gods: Arguably the best sweeper at 3 mana. Some may prefer Sweltering SunsSun for the cycling, but I like the exile clause on Anger. > Draconic Roar: Effectively Searing Blaze, but without the need for a landfall trigger. The Dragons:> Stormbreath Dragon: 4/4 flying haste that's immune to a large majority of removal in Modern. Protection from white, so no Path or Anguished Unmaking. Costs 5, so no Abrupt Decay or Fatal Push. 4 base toughness, so it costs two Bolts to kill it. > Thunderbreak Regent: While not as resilient as Stormbreath, it does punish the opponent for targeting it. Other cards: > Pia and Kiran Nalaar: 4 power and toughness across 3 bodies (2 with flying) for 4 mana. Very defensive option while the Dragons bring the beatdown, but their activated ability can be spot removal or help close the game. > Relic of Progenitus: Hoses not only dedicated graveyard strategies, buy anything even remotely interested in its own graveyard. Also draws a card for cheap. > Blood Moon: Modern is riddled with 3+ colour decks, while this is mono red. Even Red Deck Wins, which is mostly red, uses GR and RW (and sometimes cards RB) gold cards, so shutting off the mana for those cards leaves dead cards in their hand. > Chandra, Flamecaller: In addition to being able to finish the game with her [+1], her [-X] can help stabilise the board. This will be replaced by Chandra, Torch of Defiance as soon as I can get some. > Koth of the Hammer: This should be 4 copies, but I currently only have 1. Koth is an all star in Skred Red. He's effectively a 4/4 for 4 mana that's resilient to a large amount of removal. His [-2] is good in a pinch, but you want his Ulti the most as that finished games.

NOTE: Set by owner when deck was made.
I've played traditional skred decks multiple times at FNM. I think this build is very spicy. Obviously you cant help not having the Koths and Chandras but when you do get them I would suggest removing the coldsteel heart and the draconic roar for 2 more Koths. You would honestly be surprised at the amount of games Koth will win you when its a match-up you should have no business winning.

I'm aware of the power of Koth in here. I've watched many video of Skred Red and tested a few on XMage. I really like how Ponza and Skred Red share some key cards, makes it easier to switch between the two. Koth has priority on my next order, with Chandra being of secondary importance, even though she fits well in Ponza.
I've always been interested in Ponza, mind sharing your list?
This is my current list: My current Ponza list is in the description of this deck.I've also been commenting on this Primer:http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/modern/developing-competitive-modern/220790-rg-ponza-modern-land-destructionLots of customisation beyond the core cards, which you can see by the comments on the Primer.
I've been thinking. What if I drop the Walkers all together in favour of more Dragons. Maybe something like this:3-4 Stormbreath Dragon 3-4 Glorybringer 4 Thunderbreak Regent 3-4 Draconic Roar 4 Lightning Bolt 3-4 Skred 4 Mind Stone 1-3 Coldsteel Heart 4 Anger of the Gods 0-3 Pyroclasm With 2-3 Thundermaw Hellkite in the sideboard. What do you think?
http://www.mtgvault.com/dedwards/decks/skred-the-dragons/Went ahead and designed it.
If you're in modern, why not run some more cheap dragons? Get more value for Draconic Roar?
Because Draconic Roar, along with a few other cards, are only filler until I can get more Koth and some Chandra, Torch of Defiance.
Seriously? When I read what it does I wanted to buy like 8. It seems really good at first
Draconic Roar and Searing Blaze are effectively the same card, just with different conditions. I was looking for just one extra burn for 3 card as a filler and chose Draconic Roar over Searing Blaze just because I have the Dragons. As soon as I get more of the 'walkers I need, Draconic Roar will be one of the first cards I drop. I may even lower the number of Dragons the more 'walkers I get. I'm not saying the card is bad, it's very good, but only in a deck dedicated to using its effects and that's not the direction I'm going with this deck.
